I didn't read it just saw, chugging a pepsi, so he got fired for, drinking a pepsi?

ninty 06-14-2003 12:41 PM

I bet if thats true he could argue that in court and probably win his job back. I highly doubt drinking a pepsi is just cause for firing someone and it won't hold up in court.

06-14-2003 01:16 PM

I cant believe people can fire people for stupid stuff. I mean, if your wife divorces you, you can fire a guy for no reason and you cant get sued, but for drinking a pepsi, dear God

CaP bUsTa 06-14-2003 02:24 PM

thats why pepsi dropped britney spears' endorsment contract...she was seen drinking a "rival cola". Now pepsi has Shakira instead biggrin:

People can't get fired for "stupid stuff".

Read a book for christ sakes before you decide to comment. Know what your talking aboout. Every state and province has their own laws to protect employees from being fired for no reason, or poor reasons.

ninty 06-14-2003 02:30 PM

what kind of person would report somebody anyway? i guess they thought they might get a free coke

what a loser

and i too am sure he could win his job back if he went to court... but if i were him, i wouldn't want it back. I'd sue for a big cash settlement biggrin:

I didn't know where Alberta was before this thread. So what? Give sclass a break, he's just a boy.

If I had Taoyuan in my location everyone would be like "where is that?".

I'd wanna work at Coke, porbably get free cases of it!

Right. no. IF you get free soda, so would the other 3 million employees. At an average cost of maybe $6.50 for a 6 pace of coke that adds up to $19,500,000. Thats alot of money. Now say that everyone takes one case a week thats $1,014,000,000. Yeah thats over 1 billion dollars a year in lost profit. Now you see why you cant get free stuff from coke?

Pyro 06-14-2003 08:41 PM

who needs a pepsi when you got yourself a couple 40s

Bazooka_Joe 06-15-2003 07:08 PM

Rediculus and dumb.

A friend of mine went to work for Pepsi and his employment contract said he could not drink Coke or have any Coke products in his house!

I figure if your driving a Coke truck, wearing a Coke uniform and your stupid enough to drink a Pepsi in public, you deserve to get the boot.

Old Reliable 06-18-2003 11:24 AM

soda is the evil of the world, don't drink it

You forgot the part about the paycheck from coke too. Beer companies typically have the same requirments.

Old Reliable 06-18-2003 05:05 PM

that doesn't seem to carry much value, as I work for a grocery store but am free to shop at other grocery stores.. where's the difference?

Ydiss 06-18-2003 05:13 PM

Only in America.

But, at least I suppose he can sue for millions and such.

If its company policy its company policy. You agree to certian things as soon as you sign a contract or are hired by a company that is outlined in the Policies and Procedures, as well as a Union Contract. Some things I didn't like but had to suck up was taking health-care (which bites me for 50 bucks a paycecK), joining the Union (which wasn't there the time I was laid off), and paying Union fees. But, as a condition of your employment - you gotta do it. So this may seem like a "STUPID" rule, but think of it like this -
Suppose someone snapped a photo of that guy in uniform. And then posted it on the internet as a gag picture or something like that. And then it spreads. And the world sees that not even Coke employees drink Coke. Bad for business. This is them protecting their interests.

You also dont walk around your grocery store with a Rival Stores shirt on, handing out coupons for said store when anyone asks you a question.

[quote:d1ac9]or have any Coke products in his house![/quote:d1ac9]

This I doubt highly. This infringes on PERSONAL time, and would thus be unfair labor laws.

who the hell reads the store policy book anyways oOo:

Unknown_Sniper 06-18-2003 06:02 PM

yeah. policy books blow. They are huge boreing and only good for lighting fires.this guy should be getting a huge check from coke sometime soon. At least if he is smart enoguh to pres s charges.
