The Tory party is the greatest political party in the world! BTW, what is the difference between the word Republican and Democrat? Don't they mean the same thing?

I know Republican is conservative and Democrat is liberal, but isn't a republic a democratic society? If that were the case then a Republican would also mean a Democrat. oOo: stupid: oOo: eek:

Alright.

For those who don't know, back in the mid 80's the Conservative Party of Canada basiaclly split to for the Reform Party and the Progressive Conservative party. Essentally they were splitting the conservative vote, while the liberals always ran away with the majority.

That is all about to change with the reformation of the Reform (currently Canadian Alliance) and Progressive Conservative parties. Their coming back together to form one united Conservative party to take on the liberals.

This is really exciting for politics in Canada. I will give Canadians a choice other than the liberals. Its too bad chretien doesn't have another term because then no one would vote liberal. But since Palu Martin is taking over, it seems that everyone has gone liberal crazy. Nothing will change with Paul Martin. He was in Chretiens cabinet as the minister of finance and he did a whole lot of cuts, especially to the military and other programs. Now he says he wants to increase spending on the military. My ass he does.

Ploiticians are lying sacks of shit and Paul Martin is a politician. Nothing will change.. he'll be another Chretien. Another lame duck. Lets get the conservatives back in power.

Republican= Wants things to stay a little bit harsher, example favors capital punishment. Against things that demeen a society. Theyre the ones the fucking left wing always protests. Usually pro-war. A Bush type guy

Democrat=Wants more freedom and movement. Against capital punishment and for affirmitive action. Protesters are always left wing. Usually antiwar. A John F Kennedy type guy.

This is how it went:
In the first days of French democratic rule the three estates generals were disbanded and replaced by the National assembly (sort of like the house of representives.
There was a long hallway where 3 types of assemblymen sat. The ones on the left wanted more freedom and the likes. Making them left wingers which=liberal=democrat. The ones on the right wanted as explained above. Republican=Right winger=conservitive. Conservitives are like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly and virtually anyone on MSNBC.Moderates are a mixture of both.

I had no idea Canada was mostly Liberal ran. I had an idea because you guys usually dont help us in wars (no offense) which slightly suggests a democratic vote in your House. I would also like to see Canada become steadily more conservrative. It would indefinatly bring about well needed change in Canada.

As far as I have studied America has been Republican rule for well pretty much its entire existance.

I'm only 15 and for some reason politics interest me, I hope I don't become one of those scumbags. biggrin:

None taken, but we've been in every single war the US has been in since the beginning of the 20th century.

This includes Vietnam (where Canada didn't actually declare war, but 20,000 Canadians volunteered with American units) Desert Storm, Bosnia (Where we still have 2,000 troops) Kosovo, Afghanistan (where we still have 2,000 troops) and the second Iraq conflict (where we had 38 Army personelle on exchange programs with American/British units)

Now Vietnam and The second Iraq conflict may no be counted as "going to war" and whatnot, but know that we were there. So even in recent terms, say in the past 15 years the only war we have not fought alongside the US in is the second Iraq war. So I don't really think saying we don't "usually" help you in wars is correct.

We actually had numerous ships in the Persian Gulf when you guys were building up to attack in Kuwait. All your transports were protected by not only your own ships, but by Canadian ships as well.

So it's only 1 war we haven't fought along side you guys. Thats all.

Just because we have more of a liberal government dosn't mean that we back down from war. When the shit hits the fan we're there. And I know. I'm in the Army.

Maybe, but that still dosen't explain why you use words that mean the same thing for different parties. It should be Liberal Democrat and Conservative Republican. It's like having a Royalist party and a Monarchy party oOo: [/quote]

All different shades of grey. You're all in a bathtub full of shit biggrin:

I'm moderate but lean Democrat because Republicans have too many religious idiots and big business connections.
Although I can't stand many Democrats because of their affirmative action crap.
