Do you believe in ghosts?

I was just wondering if anyone believed in them. I personally don't, I don't think I've ever seen one. I have been in a graveyard in the middle of the night with a group of friends on quite a few occassions and I've never seen anything spooky.
No doubt, had I been there alone then I would have been scared out of my wits and probably seen something that I could not explain, when one is alone it is so much more easy to become scared.

Zoner 12-30-2003 12:19 PM

Nah, not really. That John Edwards dude is full of shit.

Art Attack 12-30-2003 12:22 PM

I'm half and half, I was watching a TV show and these ghost hunters went to a house and one guy went into the addict and he started screaming so one guy stuck his camera up throw the hole and there's film of the guy being lifted into the air with wire around his neck being strangled.

anoXia 12-30-2003 12:32 PM

Our house is aprox 170 years old. Its an old farm house. Anyways few years back we were on vacation & we asked our neibors to come down & take care of the dog twice a day. Anyways she came down with her 2 kids (they were probly around 10 then), while walking down our stairs inside the house they "felt a presence" that is all they could describe it as. Anyways they all ran home & got the husband who came down. When they came back their had been no change & they could not find anything. anyways when we came back home & they told us we were kind of freaked out but we have never really had anything similar happen to us in the 15 years we have lived in the house. eek:

Yes, had a real life expirence. Long story, but. . .

It was about 10 years ago, when I was living in Florida for about two years. We had these apartment complexes, that were part of a development. Not like an apartment building, but they had two floors, two homes on each. The stairs went up the middle, and the apartments were on both sides.

Anyways, across the other side lived this girl Kim I knew. She was a total tomboy, playing sports with us and crap. One day I went to go knock on the door for her, but no one was answering. I started to hear a knocking on the other side, but it was real low. So I thought it was her playing around, I started knocking harder, and the other side was knocking harder, too. Then her front door opened. So, I stepped inside, and it quickly slammed on my head.

I FLEW down the stairs scared shitless, and I think my head was bleeding. When I was in the doorway, I also saw no one behind the door. That was what freaked me out. I saw my friend Billy down the block, so I yelled to him. We both pounded on the door and ran, and someone kept pounding back on the other side, and opening and closing the door.

Finally, Kim's older brother came home (about my age now) and asked if his sister was home, he said she was at some camp or something, so we told him what happened, he opened the door and looked around the house, but no one was home. Real odd shit.

Old Reliable 12-30-2003 02:03 PM

thats not a ghost, just a defective door

The knokcing you heard was an echo. Usually happens in those kinds of complexes.

Maybe something was on the other side of the door and when you pushed it in, the door hit the object and swung back at you. Or something like that, point is there are lots of reasonably good explanations for what happen.

Nah, I don't believe in Ghosts...having said this, Ghostbusters is one of the Top 5 movies ever rock:

Our old house I think was haunted, you'd hear hear walking and things opening and closing downstairs at night, like the door to the basement would open then close and you'd hear someone walking down the stairs, first couple of times if freaked me out but after that I always went down and tried to do but when I got near it stopped.

Dude! An ECHO does not POUND on a door! Trust me, it was NOT an echo! The front door was LOCKED when he came home, and yet the thing was opening and shutting at random! Trust me, this was ab-normal.

yeah, i believe, i was taking a crap once, and the toilet flushed by itself oOo: creepy.

Madmartagen 12-30-2003 04:13 PM

I believe in ghosts. One time I was sitting in the living room with my cousins talking, when my older cousin let out the nastiest fart you can think of. After he did so, the tv turned on all by itself. I thought it was weird. Whenever I see a special on ghosts and paranormal entities, they provide a pretty convincing case. I'm not one to rule out anything just because I havent seen it with my own eyes. I also believe in UFO's and big foot.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 12-30-2003 04:15 PM

maybe he was sitting on the remote

Sergeant_Scrotum 12-30-2003 06:07 PM

bigfoot: no

Isn't it obvious ? HE played the prank on you. I'm lacking information on
the time of events, arrivals and departures though. For the moment, this
seems like a very good explanation...

You got Punk'd.

<y old babysitter and he son, daughter and husband went to spend the night at thishaunted house just pass the highway near toronto, the family that lived there was murdered, they brought their camera and there's this one little hallway and the husband dave started to walk down it recording and as soon as he opened a door to the master bedroom, a light appears on the film and the camera shuts off, but turns back on once you leave the room. Also every night at 3 Am the piano in the family room plays the same tune, they have that on tape too, very weird, and the last is the children's room which is locked up but at night you can hear screaming from it and one room has like 666 all over it, the video scared the shit outta me, I SO wanna goto a haunted house.

my moms old oven talked to me once stupid:

Pvt.Pinhead 12-31-2003 12:38 AM

I didnt acually see a ghost but when I went on the old aircraft carrier USS Lexinton in Houston, Texas for a class trip, I went to the bathroom right after all the lights went out which was stupid cause I should have gone before, but I was playing cards, and while I was in the bathroom all of a sudden the showers went on and off, I got so scared I ran downstairs back to the bunks and went to sleep, later on in the night I woke up and really had to go so I silently went back up to the bathroom and made my way in. At first there was nothing and I started going in the urenal closest the door when all of a sudden the toilets started flushing themselves, and the lights went off!!! I got so scared I backed up while going to the bathroom and got pee all over the bathroom. The next morning I told one of the workers what happened and they told of this sailor who died in those bathrooms because he was shaving right before the ship got into a battle then when it did the impact of the blow of a bomb made himself lose ballance and the shaver some how slit his throat on his fall, now I dont know if I believe that but I know I heard somethin unnatural while I was on the USS Lexington.

I remember one night I suddenly woke out of a sound sleep to see a ghostly figure shrouded in white
swaying menacingly before me!....imagine my relief when I realized the figure was in fact my own
raging bone-on sticking up under my own sheet!.....still, it makes you wonder tho, eh?

That's the thing with living in brit, the places here are old. Someone on this thread said there was an old house of 170 years, around here that would be considered a new building...
Some of the houses around here date back to medieval times, I'm within walking distance of a castle built in 1060's and a Cathederal that was built in 604, even the road outside my house was built by the Romans. This pic probably gives you the best idea of what it's like.

There's also an old Napoleonic fort with loads of underground tunnels etc if there was any place that was haunted it would be my area. I usually walk around my area at night if I'm coming back from my friends house or have to go to work early, I walk past graveyards that are probably 500 years old but I never see anything spooky eek:

Zap. USMC 12-31-2003 01:16 AM

That's very interesting Bunny, I really respect Great Britian for that and someday I'll fly over and visit because the history is so rich.

imported_Fluffy_Bunny 12-31-2003 01:20 AM

I'm just wondering why such an old place dosen't have any ghosts at night eek:

I can't imagine a ghost being in a modern apartment block.

imported_Fluffy_Bunny 12-31-2003 01:22 AM

Are there any notoriously spooky places where you guys live?

Pyro 12-31-2003 01:26 AM

I can't say I do, but it would be cool if there were.

SoLiDUS 12-31-2003 01:31 AM

Well, you see, in Canada we have this igloo who's owner knew this guy who
in turn knew a man who's wife got killed by a polar bear (we have many of
those up here eh) and haunted their igloo until the husband could no longer
take it and commited suicide, this ghost in turn haunted the original guy for
three years and then got tired of waiting and p0rked him in the ass until he
died as well. Now they all haunt the igloo together. They were affectionately
called the Three Muskeghosts.
