please tell me what is so good about banning a religous right of a people ?...I would hope Frances COnstitution of charter of Freedom and RIghts would have something against this type of thing.
|
9! Das ist nicht gut.
Restricting freedom for security is still restricting freedom. In no way should a free people be told by there government that any aspect of their native religion is banned. I'm with you Short. |
IM With Vac..HEIL!

I am of two minds on this;
I agree with it, in that, over here for instance, I have found that typical Australian culture has receeded of late to accomodate foreign immigrants and their culture. I have no problem with this, but if our traditions and culture is being compromised to accomodate theirs, then it is only fair that this goes both ways. Having said this, I think that taking the traditional headwear of the muslim people is crossing the line, almost to the point of being petty oOo: |
What's the religion were they have to carry a little knife with them?
|
If you can't say The Lord's Prayer in school anymore, some muslim chick shouldn't be allowed to wear that kind of garb.
Equality. That's all it boils down to. |
This is Nazi. I believe in Diversity not Assimilation.

But the Christian kids can still wear "small" crosses. As long as it’s not seen. They’re singling out those who have obvious symbols, and by doing so are aiming directly at certain religions, which is just fucking wrong.
Frankly what’s the big deal is about what’s worn on your head, it shouldn’t fucking matter. To say that since kids cant prey in school then other kids shouldn’t be able to wear a headdress that there religion has worn since before some counties were formed is simply asinine. The headdress does nothing to disrupt any one else learning unless they’re a racist or a complete dipshit who wants to make a big deal out of it. Saying "the lords" prayer in school is disruptive, and does discriminate against other religion. Sure you may say it’s for every religion but it’s generally understood that it’s for "the lords" prayer. Kind of like an office Christmas party, the management calls it the "holiday" party so there not discriminatory, while everyone else just calls it the Christmas party. The statement of "French values were under attack" by the kids wearing these things is beyond belief. If your values are so fragile as to be threatened by a hat, you deserve to have them pushed to the whey side. This is a travesty against all religions targeted and against freedom of religion itself. What’s next, turban free restaurants? Perhaps cab drivers in New York shouldn’t wear them anymore because it brings bad images to passenger’s minds. Oh I know, lets take down the crosses that hang outside of churches, and signs that have prayer passages on them. While were at it lets make all churches, sinagogs, and other religious building square, and paint them white. That way you wont have to know what type of people go that un-socially acceptable place. Why don’t they ban baseball hats, or "football" caps? They show support for a team. A belief that the team on that hat is the best one around, or is simply your favorite. Same meaning really, just for a sports team rather than a creator of everything. To say that a silent statement of religion is tantamount to stopping class to pray is fucking stupid zone. If anything it’s a poor fashion choice, but it is there choice to wear it. I’m not going to stop you from wearing that shirt, or those shoes. So why should I make them stop wearing what amounts to a fucking hat. On a side note: I’m not religious in the least, but this situation is fucking stupid. Nothing like this should happen to any religion. I may not believe in your god, but I believe in your right to follow him/her/it as blindly as you want, as long as it’s not by ramming it down my gullet. |
I'm not continuing this debate because I don't have strong feelings about the subject. I really don't. I'm not even sure why I chimed in.
You're right miscguy. I was wrong. I'm gonna leave it at that. ...and kids should never "prey" at school. We don't need another Columbine. |
I have conflicting views on this.
1. Who gives a shit if someone wheres a rag on their head. 2. I hate muslims. 3. I hate france. So I feel so stupid that I can't even make a judgement call on this one. I mean are Jewish people aloud to wear their kippas there? If no then I think the muslims shoudn't be able to either. Either way it's another stupid french law by the stupid french National Assembly. |
you're there to learn, not express your religions annoy:
|
Their country, their rules.
|
Who gives a damn about the headscarves, it is their right to wear them & I fully support that, but I'm more concerned about the rate of immigration.
Is France to become a muslim country? eek: |
Invasion of Freedom, France is a crap hole.
|
I think we've got some hypocrites here.
I'm sure that in the French Charter of Rights and Freedoms, just like in Canada and the US and Australia and NZ and Britain and every other civilized nation in the world, it says somewhere ar ule about the right to religion. Now if I wanted to, I would like to believe that I could wear a huge ass sombrero with a framed 8X10 picture of jesus hanging from it. If they want to get rid of this stuff in school, you can't say its ok for you to wear a cross, but its not ok for you to wear a head dress or whatever. If they want it out of schools, they either say nothing religious is allowed in schools, or anything is allowed. I went to Catholic schools all my life so praying and crosses and such wern't that big of a problem. But i'll be darned if someone is going to tell me not to wear one thing while allow someone else to wear something similar. Either ban it all, and give a good reason for, or shut up. And VAC and others sound like they've got some racial issues. |

Some of you don't understand, it's not what they are wearing but what the article represents. This is basically a reaction to the anti-muslim sentiment spanning the world. Whether you like it or not, seems like it's going to be passed. It's only for public schools too

Frankly, I don't give a shit what they do in France, as long as they keep sending their women over here! biggrin:
|
well, from what I've read and heard about Europe, if they don't pass this law, they may as well start converting to Islam,
we may very well see a Muslim Europe pretty soon unless things change (mainly immigration laws) |

This sort of backlash is happening right across Europe, Hollland, Belgium and France in particular, perhaps some of you guys should go live there for a while so you can better understand the issues. |

I may like individuals from france but as a whole I dont like france. I have a valid reason. They dont like us. A girl I know just got back from france after being there for 5 months. they kept telling her how much they hated America and how much we sucked

And if you go to Amercia you hear about how much they don't like France, etc. As for this issue, I don't care what they wear. As long as they don't pray in school. But to not allow chirstans to wear crosses/pray, and to allow muslins to wear their headscarfs is unfair. I agree with miscguy 100% |
Das ist sehr schlect...heh I read someone elses Deutsch post.
Heil Bundisrepublikdeutschland! j/k beer: I didn't read the article or many posts but I think any kind of raciest discrimination like that is wrong. If they mean to toally ban something like that..bah.. If they mean like you can't wear hats in school, so know turbans either.. than that's good, no fucking exceptions like that, same with the yahmaca (SP!). |
france has always been about keeping religion seperate, and it seems things have gone too far with including religion. ...it's yamulke
|
France came close to having a biget take power. The country is in a state of change as is Europe as a whole. Nazi's are reappearing along with spray painted swastika's. Racism is brewing as it did years ago back in the days of Adolf. Racism turns into Hatred and hatred turns into War, Genocide, or Death. The head scarves of women in the MUslim world is to hide beuty which is a temptation to men. This keeps them more on track with becoming closer to Allah. THis isn't some chross around your neck this is a very bigcustom for Muslim's. Banning it would be the equivelent of taking the priests collar and the nunes high robes. It is a sick sadistic law brought up by bigets made for biget's. This issue has only shown me some of the more racial hatred quality's of pople around this place. annoy: . + I don't think France has many Muslim school's, for these people to go to if this is enforced.

I couldn't care less.

and you are from............???
|
I know in a public school you wouldn't nget away with much more than a cross in Canada...yet they are allowed to eve have their religious sacrificing stuf fon fridays during school. It's a little...unfair...even though i could igve a shit if religion even existed int he first place.

I hate muslims." That's not racist? Perhaps "race" was the wrong word to use, but I don't think it makes a difference what word is used, I think its pretty clear as to what is being said. And what difference does it matter if it happens across Europe? I'm not talking about europe. It happens everywhere in the world, I talking about on this board. I thought it was pretty simple. |
