Sleep Deprivation.... what's the longest you've gone...

What's the longest you've gone without sleep? I've two tests on Friday which I am not ready for; however, I'm inspired by the Navy SEAL Hell Week to pull two consecutive all-nighters. ed:

If the SEALs can go a week without sleep under high stress, then why can't I? (Then again, I'm not a SEAL now am I?) sleeping:

Madmartagen 02-12-2004 06:41 PM

51 hours is the longest Ive been w/o the sleepies.

Johnj 02-12-2004 06:45 PM

72 hours

General Cobra 02-12-2004 06:51 PM

A little over 4 days. I'm not so sure on the exact time for obvious reasons. I can do it again if I need to. I go 1-2 days without sleep about 3-4 times a month.

Machette 02-12-2004 06:52 PM

Like 2 nights. Haven't bothered trying to beat it, I like sleeping.

con Brio 02-12-2004 07:12 PM

I hate it when my eyes get all itchy and red after going without sleep for awhile. oOo:

Duke_of_Ray 02-12-2004 07:27 PM

Sadly only 20 hours. annoy:

I hope you mean hours. I believe you die after 17 days of no sleep. Your body needs sleep to recuperate and after 17 days your far enoug hbehind that your body cant catch up and it shuts down permanently. One of my teachers whos in the AF told us this. He said they found out during toture etc. not sure if its 100% correct but can you find someone who has gone that long without 1 second of sleep?

Duke_of_Ray 02-12-2004 07:34 PM

We should all get in a chat one nite and see who can stay up the longest. Make it where like you have to type a message evry 10 minutes are you are eliminated, so the last perosn to pass out would win! Oh yeah it would be awesome! Would ownz da biat xdt563ownz8978!!!!!!!

Unknown_Sniper 02-12-2004 07:38 PM

ha ok

*starts riging device to type im stil lawake , every ten minutes*

all I need is 20 hours of sleep and that lil thing and I win.

Duke_of_Ray 02-12-2004 07:46 PM

Ok then, we have to give a blood smaple and write an essay on video every hour. oOo:

don't do it,
48 hours of cramming and no sleep followed by 2 exams = a grade of C or lower on both exams.

remember this:
1. SEALs do get some sleep during hell week, just not a lot
2. SEALs mainly do training designed to force the body and will to the breaking point, they mainly lug around heavy things, run, and do pushups. They don't do technical things that require concentration, like shooting or using sensitive equipment during hell week.
An exam is rather more mentally straining than pushups and hauling around a rubber boat.

Besides that isn't a good reason to deprive yourself of sleep. And neither is CS.

yes, I believe one of the "rules of a combat veteran" states "never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down, never stay awake when you can sleep"; and most of us get little sleep anyway, with school, work, etc. a contest on a game forum is a dumb reason to get even less sleep.

Short Hand 02-12-2004 08:25 PM

If you wanna stay Up go pop some Ex.

Bucknub 02-12-2004 08:36 PM

Id say about 30 hours give or take.

Unknown_Sniper 02-12-2004 08:43 PM

I forgot to post mine....uh....clsoe to 2 days. A trip to florida nonstop that was about 25ish hours maybe without sleep. then doing a LAN the night before new years getting 4 hors of sleep then being awake well into the da yafter new years. so close to 48 hours. I try to get at least 1 horus of sleep a day, if I dont I tear heads off.

Drew 02-12-2004 09:07 PM

I went four and a half days with no sleep.

Halfway through the fourth day I started hallucinating and hearing things and I would just break down and cry for no reason. I fell down the steps and passed out.

strvs 02-12-2004 09:07 PM

2 days. meth binge....you know how it goes...

Vance 02-12-2004 09:28 PM

Around 40 hours.

longest ive been was 27 or so hours going to holland

LA to NY(delayed) to UK to Holland to lost my baggage to getting lost to not finding the fuckin hotel to not finding our room to not getting any sleep due to differences in time changes...

ninty 02-12-2004 11:24 PM

I'm sure SEALS do a lot more than 2 nights. When I was on basic in Wanewright we did from 5am Monday to 9am Friday. Thats 100 hours. Everyone was hallucinating. I thought I was seeing people jumping up ad down in a field, and it was total de-ja-veu. I was so sleep fucked I could have sworn I was in the same exact place watching the same exact "non existent" soldiers jumping up and down sometimew earlier in my life.

Old Reliable 02-12-2004 11:45 PM

meh...i feel like spending the whole night without sleep, just cuz i havent' had anything to talk about in a while
