Doom 3 system Specs
This just in from http://www.filefront.com
they had an interview with the makers of Doom 3 We have stumbled across an interview held by PC Hardware with John Carmack. After a rough German translation, what appeared to be the Doom 3 system requirements were revealed. A video card with at least 128MB RAM and Pixel Shader 1.1 support is required A 2.5GHz CPU should be enough for the stencil shadows and physics calculations The testing phase might last till summer or even later this year DOOM 3 will be released on 4 CDs Multiplayer will include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Tournament and Last Man Standing The interview also mentions that the game-testing might go well into the summer; meaning that game will not be out anytime soon, and possibly not before the fall of 2004. On a side note, this announcement is not what you should deem as being exactly 'official', yet it does shed some light on the possible requirements for the game at least. oOo: I did not think it would be this good of such requirements did you? I thought maybe 2 ghz and 64 mb video card |
Yes, i barely make it.....

I'll have an overclocked Athlon 64 3200+ with an ATi Radeon 9800 Pro. If
that's not enough, Carmack can suck my [Expletive Deleted] [Censored]. |
I have a 486 compared to those specs.
|
I don't think my 1.1Ghz Sloweron and my PCI Radeon 9100 are going to cut it for D3....
|
Bah, Far Cry has higher requirments. Seeing how i built my rig to run it. This is no problem.
|
would an amd 2800+ be considered a 2.5Ghz?

Either way the 2800+ performs for the most part on par with the P4 2.8C in games. So, I'd say that it is good enough for D3 if those specs are correct. |
I have a AMD Xp 3200+, that should be good enough.
|
hmm
yeah but doesnt it meen that the processor persay needs to be 2.5 ghz?
so it can process the information fast enough instead of just 2.08 ghz... |
AMD obtains speed via a differant method than Intel. Hense why intel stay swith displaying there clock speed while AMD gives you a series numbers. If an AMD processor is labeled as a 2800+ while its clock speed may only be 1.8ghz it will effectivly process the data at an equivilent speed of a 2.8 ghz.

durr
ok ... i`m a b00n oOo:

i just need some more RAM and a 128 mb video card and i'll be ok.
|
Think my 1.8Ghz pentium 4 is adequate enough or should I overclock it?
|
1.8, i've heard of those going as high as 2.5 ghz. Granted with better cooling, and so forth. You could do 2.0 with no real problems i would imagine. If you have some monitoring programs that track heat and so forth you may be able to go further.
|
Thats nuts. I'm not going to beable to run it. I wans't expecting to, but I don't think my system is that bad. 1.4 AMD XP 512MB DDR Ram 256MB GF5600. Oh well, I wasn't expecting to beable to run it anyway.
|
If you think its going to require all that. . .well then by all means go out and buy a whole shitload of new components. They're not going to shoot themselves in the foot by making a game with such processing demands. Not a chance.
