if this isnt an appropriate discussion thread then delet hack as whoever sees fit. Im of the opinion that the 2 that are up now leave me bored and wanting for something more spectacular. They seem drab and like everyother site? war image at top...menu on side...now if you are into that type of stuff then god bless ya...but ....

now if i had a lick of skill and the time id throw my hat in the ring but IMO 20+ years of reading comics and being involved in art in one of its many forms lends a credible critique. I put this out there cause there are some here that post not knowing a lick about what they speak of...id like to see a much more outlandish approach, but not to outlandish that the general public will pass it by..

Really what else did you expect with a war site..it seems fit to have war images...

Eh i fucked up on the bottom of the banner a bit, ill have to edit that and resend it to badscript... oOo: And for each game button, when you click it a sub-menu will pop up with the game sections, and i will have a header for each section..

the war imagery isnt what i find unappealing. that my friend is a given..its the layout. meh the images could be blended maybe a bit differently..instead of creating a website how about trying to create an ATMOSPHERE freak: beer:

ive surfed a ton of warsites..historical/clans/games/you anme it...and so many of them were cookie cutter like the 2 in the top. now im not here to discredit an artist or their work im simply saying that aesthically...id like to see something different that all the 101st/bob/3rd army/5th divioson/nub squad/sites...

Well you really cant put alot of your creativity into it, because you are making it for someone else, trust me, ive seen alot of them too...but im doing this for someone else, so i have to do what looks good, and its easy to use, easy to navigate, and you can fit alot of content in...I could come up with a million different layouts that are far from the regular squad/clan noob page, but i really think badscript wants something like the one hes got now, just better looking.

a flash intro to the site would be cool

IMO you can do that and knock his conservative socks off as well...if the grand scheme is to cover all military fps shotters thant it sure will suck as a "vet" to look at basically the same site that was buried... eek:

I agree. If it is something that is really awesome to look at, Badscript won't care if it's in the "certain layout". The whole point of it is to look good. So, make something that can be unique and eye-catching.

add some side bars so that the site doesnt look like a box on the page, so it blends in with the page, ill show you what i mean if you dont know

So far neither are very eye catching and have that over used php-nuke look. Need something with atmosphere and individuality while not losing simplicity and navigation.

whats so wrong with this layout? its extremly easy to follow, probably one of the reasons there used to be so much traffic here. i guess if you stured away from the moh theme...but i like this layout.

I think we need something that is going to make people remember the site not only for content, but because the design is fookin awesome.

Here is my vision.. I'm going to use MSPaint to illustrate, so if you don't like it, feck off. Maybe someone with more artistic skill than I can make this a reality.

You open with a brief (5 sec) flash animation which brings forth the central layout of the site. In the center is a spherical (3D) collage of military imagery which serves as the anchor for the page as well as the link to gf1.com content. Surrounding it a several smaller spheres (all 3D) with screenshots from the games or perhaps logos/boxart for simplified navigation. Something like this (these are obviously not the colors.. I'm just giving an idea of the layout):

Now, when you click on one of the outer spheres, the sphere would become animated and fly into the center sphere which would take on the outer sphere's image, do a brief loading bar inside that sphere, and then the sphere would shoot to the top lefthand corner and stay there when the content page opens. The only difference here would be if they clicked the center sphere (gf1.com content) all the outer spheres would fly into that center sphere which would shoot to the top left corner. Here is a very rough idea of how I envision the content page:

Anyway, that's my idea. If someone can make it happen, I think it's an awesome concept and you can take credit for it and everything. Werd.
