Ok this guy I know says he will uild me something like this for 750$, this is just the computer I already have everything else.
2.8ghz 512m RAM 128m Video Card 40 gig hard drive Can I get a system like this cheaper anywhere? Also I get a one year warrenty and I can take it to his shop myself, which is like 3 miles from my house. It will be 750$ for the PC, already built and ready to run when I get it home. |

Where could I do better? |
depends on what the video card is. its seems like its kind of expensive for what your getting... no motherboard? check newegg.com and compare the prices.
|
and is it a intel celeron processor or intel p4?
are you getting XP with it? does it come with a sound card/speakers? Im looking for a good, cheap computer as well and those are all the ?'s i usually ask myself. |

yea, thats what sucks right there, xp = $100 i thought i was getting an amazing deal somewhere, about ready to buy then realized it was average when i factored in XP and decent speakers. believe it or not...http://www.compaq.com has some decent prices with AMD processors, some even cheaper than if you were to order from no-name companies online. but if you were looking for speed in upwards of 2.8ghz, definatetly try to go elsewhere. |
sell your current one and dont buy another pc, just buy a bed or something, to save me from reading your threads sleeping:

Build your own. For 750$, you could make a really nice XP system with a
9800 Pro. |
or worst comes to worst buy the parts and most local comp shops charge 80 bucks, since it takes less then an hour to assemble.

Where can I buy parts for a PC that will work together good? I really do not want to spend over 600$. What about this deal? http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4078802 Is celeron really crap? |
very.
|
Never buy a computer that doesnt come with software included. ( Operating system) If you have to format your screwed.
The guys are right. Build your own!!! |

newegg.com, or get a barebones from tigerdirect

There are a lot of newbs, but there is lots of information there if you ask the right questions.
plus very few assholes rolleyes: |
all your shitty forums <hardforum.com their is nothing on the net that comes even close to this one.
|
Celerons are other-name processors that didn't quite make the cut so they
become re-labelled and underclocked so as to be stable. They work fine for what they do, but don't try to do number crunching or overclocking with it... |

Put it this way, when I build systems for people, the price usually comes to around 700.00 without the monitor. Now this system usually includes:
P4 3.0 ghz or AMD equivelant Asus/Abit motherboard with built-in audio and LAN card, SATA AGP 8x etc.. 512MB DDR400 RAM such as Geil or Kingston 120GB 8mb cache HD or 10k SATA Raptor drive plus IDE equivelant ATI 9800 pro (used to be 9600 pro before the price drop) NEC 8x DVD-R/DVD+R Average Case with decent power supply Now that doesn't include labor, but you get the point. You can get a better system for that kind of money. |

Or you can buy a good system that comes with all the software needed. Itll cost you more but youll be a lot happier with the result. |

Most expensive parts should be video card, processor and monitor. If you blow $700 on a pc that doesnt have a monitor it better be P4 and a radeon 9800.
