find your boot disk (came with your PC, if not make one). boot from the CD. go throught it and look for something like "format" or "reformat" and run that stuff. just follow the CD and you'll be alright. cool:
|
^^THAT'S what i was talking about. jsut forgot
|
you cant format drice c if you're using it. best thing to do is get a boot cd.
|
For a bunch of guys who think they know everything you guys dont seem to know shit about the computers you use and talk about all the time. First of all what operating system are you using. Ill assume your running XP. Go into the bios ( restart your pc and keep hitting delete) in the boot section choose to boot from your cdrom first. Restart your computer with the XP disk in. Follow the prompts to format and reindstall your operating system. If you running something else...(FORGET EVERYTHING I JUST JUST SAID!!)

1 if your using windows ME or below (98 etc.. gotta use a boot disk, set in your bios to boot to floppy. If windows 2kpro (the best) or windowsXP your cd rom is built with a boot program and can boot your comp from the CD ROM (which you gotta set in the bios boot to CD if your using them. with windows 2kpro and XP its so easy just follow the step by step format etc etc it fdoes it all for you then install your drivers once windows is back and your set. Easy as pie. (or you could run a windows repair by justp utting your disk and following the instructions in the cheapo screen to repair. what ever you do gl. |

welcome to the internet, noob. |
Thanks for the advice guys, but my issues are somewhat more complex. I need a way to erase all info on this PC. Back to square one, no OS...nothing.
Here is the situation: I have Win. XP Pro in stalled on the following drives: C D E and a hidden directory that I have no access to. In fact I have to select the OS and Drive I want to use everytime I re-start. I have been able to work around it for several months, but as of last week I lost the abillity for my PC to read Graphics corectly. It is as if the Gamma is backwards! I atribute it to the massive amount of useless shit I have in every corner of this damned Sony pos. I want to eliminate all info in the PC and start over using just one drive ( C ) and I will install XP Pro from there. I cannot use the disc because it is a student copy, and has no option to remove previous software. I have tried to reinstall Pro, I have gone back to an earlier save point, I have deleted masive amounts of software thinking they may be the reason, I have tryed the suggestions presented so far.... all to no avail. So, come on AAers, how do I delete all the info on my PC? |
zen is yours a sony vaio?
and is windows just installed on the c right? |
do what i said, the windows XP disk onc reboot will automatically give you access to merge your partitions into one and completely format. you will be set.

Windows XP Profession is installed on C D E and at another location that I can't find...H? I think |
What do you mean by student copy?? If you have a xp pro cd i dont see the problem in deleteing the other drives and reinstalling the os on the c drive. I guess im not familiar with a student copy. ( never heard of that)
|
You have to boot it up from the Windows XP CD like stated earlier, then it should say press R to repair or L to format and stuff like that. It will ask you what partitions you want to format.

And he has such a sharp wit too. rolleyes: |
Is this a computer you use at school. If so maybe your I.T. depertment can help. If its your home computer youll have to spring for a full version of xp home or pro to get the job done right. XP home being cheaper then the pro version.
|
but i still love him, even if he will never accept me.
