Drug reform

http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/07/20/re ... index.html
what there so worried about is that younger kids are doing it wihle their brains are still developing which is all the more reason to legalize it that way u can actually control it alot better than trying to deal with it while its illegal, and instead of pouring all that money into trying to stop marijuana from reaching the youth of america why not just make it legal that way its just as hard to get weed as it is beer, suprisingly enough when I was in HS it was alot easier to get weed than it was beer, and by legalizing it they will actually be making a shit load off of the taxes. They are so scared of weed they cant make good decisions about it, they all just need to smoke a fat joint and shut the hell up and do something actually useful instead of trying to stop marijuana when its no worse than alcohol.

HeadUp 07-30-2004 05:26 PM

is illegal cuz the gov't couldnt tax it if were made legal

Sirus 07-30-2004 05:30 PM

why not they sure as hell do with beer

HeadUp 07-30-2004 05:35 PM

because marijuana could be grown very easily in a variety of different areas, the price would become so cheap, everyone would just grow thier own and govt processed chron would have as good a chance as the 1000000000 other would-be gorwers/sellers

the gov't is also unable, at this point, to reduce funding for the drug war since theres already so fuckin much money invested in it

i dont think weed will see a reasonable level of legality for many years to come

Old Reliable 07-30-2004 06:04 PM

it would also create as a competitor to the cigarette and beer markets, so they are paying the govt to make marijuana look bad

bukdez 07-30-2004 06:59 PM

weed = massive cash-crop...

Do you know how much governments spend fore preventative and reactionary measures against marijuana?

If marijuana were to be legalized, the government would save billions and billions of dollars.

imported_Grim_Reaper 07-30-2004 07:27 PM

its legal in small portions in canada. plus its not all that hard to grow.

bukdez 07-31-2004 07:20 AM

I thought it was decriminalised in Canada? eek:

Zoner 07-31-2004 08:10 AM

Not yet. It's still being debated in Parliament.

This Parliament:

...not THIS Parliament

bukdez 07-31-2004 08:36 AM

lmao... imagine the other Parliament was in charge, it would be mandatory to smoke weed, and not having 'the funk' would be a criminal offense...

Sgt>Stackem 07-31-2004 08:50 AM

one of the main reasons it wont happen is that there is no test to see if you are under the influence. The test show if you have used it in the last 30 days but there is nothing to prove you were driving under the influence. Like alcohols road side test. If they had a way to do it then it may be decriminalized until them you will be breaking the law

beer isnt exactly hard to get, id say getting weed right now is harder to get then beer. at night if i want 1 phone call and i could have a keg in 30 minutes as long as i have the cash.

Sirus 07-31-2004 10:53 AM

Im talking about the youth, when ur in middle school and highschool its pretty hard to get beer but weed is nothing

Maplegyver 07-31-2004 11:27 AM

beer is not hard to get, niether is weed oOo:

Fireal 07-31-2004 11:30 AM

I think Weed should stay illegal. Its stupid, dangerous, and just gay.

Sirus 07-31-2004 12:11 PM

how is it dangerous, when ur high u can control yourself when ur drunk u cannot, when ur stoned u can drive, when ur drunk u cannot, beer makes u fat, weed does not, and when ur drunk u piss like a race horse, when ur high u do not

Fireal 07-31-2004 12:19 PM

You can drive high? Hmm. My sister has crashed her car 3 times. all times she was blazed off her ass. Its just as bad as drinking IMO

Maplegyver 07-31-2004 12:20 PM

DRINKING> WEED

Sirus 07-31-2004 12:21 PM

she crashed b/c she was a girl, what do u xpect happy:

Fireal 07-31-2004 12:21 PM

It is sad. I've also seen extremely bright guys turn into dim witted, going-nowhere pieces of shit from smoking weed too. Equally sad.

HeadUp 07-31-2004 12:28 PM

stackem- i think if the gov't did more to fund research of weed instead of trying to destroy it--which is currently impossible

Fireal 07-31-2004 12:29 PM

Yea, I've made it a life goal not to turn out like my mother. A stoner, and a drunk. Unemployed, with her Liscense suspended for 100 years.

Yup it happens same with some of my friends but you cant blame weed or beer for things that happen to people like ur mom fireal, sure they are contributing factors but hell people that do them have to understand when to stop or not let them control their lives, there are alot of us who smoke and drink responsibly and dont let it ruin our lives, those others who do not, dont have the strength or will power to tell themselves when they have had enough, u shouldnt ban weed or beer b/c of the actions of a few, its like prohibition it just doesnt work

Fireal 07-31-2004 12:43 PM

Cant blame weed or beer?! Jesus fuck, if it didnt exist, they never would have gotten addicted to it in the first place. Ive tried like fuck to get my mom and uncle to stop drinking and tried to get my sister to stop smoking weed. My sister did, after having an intervention. And my mom, and uncle both went to AA for along time. But it wasnt long before they were right back doing the same old shit. Just wednesday, my uncle totaled his truck, and was arrested for a DWI. When we went to the scene of the crash to see what the fuck happened, he was already on his way to jail. Seeing the truck nearly made me vomit, to see what alchohol caused.

Sirus 07-31-2004 12:45 PM

well my grandad was a alcoholic and a chain smoker but after having a stroke and the doctor told him he had to quit or he would die, he went cold turkey, now how the fuck did he do that if u cant quit when ur addicted? its all about will power, not all ppl cant control themselves

Fireal 07-31-2004 12:47 PM

Sure its about will-power. But the higher majority doesnt have the will-power.

Sirus 07-31-2004 12:50 PM

nope u cant say its the majority, its like those statements, drink responsibly, only a percentage of the population cant handle it, if u look at the mass population that does weed and drinks beer without incident, the number is far greater than those who are fucked due to addiction

Maplegyver 07-31-2004 12:53 PM

if you look at the tv. thats what gets you started, that and peer pressure

Fireal 07-31-2004 12:54 PM

I dont believe that.

Meh, no use to continue this argument, I wont change my views, you wont change yours. Lets agree to disagree.
