i tried shutting down norton and then running it but the same thing happens everytime. any1 know a solution?

Not sure what you can do, but if you can't figure it out, try using their new webmessenger service. That should work for you.

imported_Grim_Reaper 08-06-2004 07:22 AM

alright ill check it out. odd whenever i try and sign in it says page cannot e displayed.

Zoner 08-06-2004 07:37 AM

Strange.

I just checked it out for the first time about 10 mins ago and it worked fine.

imported_Grim_Reaper 08-06-2004 08:02 AM

do hotmail accounts ever run out? like is there a time limit? if not then there is something wrong with my computer... i can connect to the internet but i cant connect to msn messenger... Aim works fine too.

Old Reliable 08-06-2004 08:04 AM

get trillian

imported_Grim_Reaper 08-06-2004 08:08 AM

link? i never heard of it.

Zoner 08-06-2004 08:24 AM

Trillian is an app that encompasses MSN, AIM, ICQ, IRC into one interface. You still need accounts for each of these services. I use it...good schtuff.

I'm not sure on the policy, but it's possible that if your Hotmail account is inactive for a long time, they'd smoke it.

imported_Grim_Reaper 08-06-2004 08:41 AM

well i was using it for awhile, then i stopped for about a week. then i encountered this problem.

Wilko 08-06-2004 08:52 AM

Rape it, then spit on it.

Failing that, have you checked the 'Connections' tab? Has anything changed there?

imported_Grim_Reaper 08-06-2004 08:58 AM

everything is how its always been. it just spontaeously happened.

Wilko 08-06-2004 09:08 AM

That's odd. My Nero stopped working for no apparent reason recently as well. Perhaps Skynet is taking over; Which is as good a reason as any to post...

that just solved all my problems!

Mr.Buttocks 08-06-2004 12:36 PM

Try this.....

Install it, then try to run it. When the error appears click "ok" and then go to Control panel>Add or Remove Programs. Select MSN Messenger, then "Change", then "Repair".

See if that helps.

imported_Grim_Reaper 08-06-2004 02:18 PM

did it, same thing happens. i redownloaded the install file to repair it but that didnt work. this is pissing me off.

Mr.Buttocks 08-06-2004 02:35 PM

Uninstall, delete the files in C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MSN Messenger, then try to reinstall.

Have you had problems with any other programs recently?

imported_Grim_Reaper 08-06-2004 02:42 PM

ok ill try that. i havent had any trouble with anything else except all the games and steam, but steam just blows. i cant play online for some reason it wont connect.

BlackJackal 08-06-2004 02:44 PM

i had that same fukin problem recently. had to reinstall windows. not fun. probably what you got 2 do. u got a dell?

intrestedviewer 08-06-2004 02:45 PM

It seems to be more of a connection problem then, check your firewalls and click "repair" on your local area connection thingy.

imported_Grim_Reaper 08-06-2004 02:46 PM

nah hp. im not gonna reinstall anything but msn messenger. once i can get a hold of my uncle he may be able to help, he writes programs and went to college for computers.

Mr.Buttocks 08-06-2004 02:50 PM

Have a look through the Microsoft support newsgroup for MSN Messenger, you might be able to find something there. (Or make a post there and ask for help)
