Converting AVI

ok, im kind of a n00b at these things. I have this movie, its an avi. its just shy of 16MB of fitting on a 700MB CD.. now I was wondering if there is anyway of making it smaller so it'll fit onto an 700MB CD.. or do i have to split it into 2 and burn it on 2 cd's?

are there converting programs out there that was make it smaller? (waits for flames) so it will fit on the CD?

ive tried opening it up in premier and even movie maker, but it doesnt want to open it.

Bucknub 08-26-2004 06:58 AM

...or I can buy 720MB cd's right?

some burning programs allow you to over burn. ive put 800 mg bin files on a 700 mg cd before. you using nero or what?

Mr.Buttocks 08-26-2004 03:42 PM

Buckweed, is it just for storage or do you want to watch the movie from the CD(s)?

yes.. Nero Express.

fujimi7su 08-26-2004 08:37 PM

ok, so your putting a AVI file as a data cd for your player?

just try and burn it like that... w/ nero, see what happens

so you're saying burning it as a data cd will lower the size? cuz ive been trying to burn it as VCD

fujimi7su 08-26-2004 08:39 PM

depends, burning a VCD will convert the AVI to MPEG and then burn it (sometimes causing size change)

if your dvd player plays Divx/AVi movies then try a data cd

hmm ok, thanks

fujimi7su 08-26-2004 08:43 PM

buy a dvd burner

best $80 ive spent on my computer ever

geRV 08-26-2004 08:46 PM

Nero supports that as far as i know, if u wanna burn a video cd it'll automatically change the file type and size to fit on the disc.

I think anyway, been ages since i done it.

geRV 08-26-2004 08:55 PM

Try video cd nub oOo:

Judas 08-26-2004 08:56 PM

you can overburn with nero. so , you can fit a vcd > 700 mg on a 700mg cd.

this is what you wanna look for :

[img]http://www.daplayazclub.com/uploads/nero_1.jpg[/img]

in nero burning rom (not express) goto file / preferences / expert features tab. ***(this is wrong. you wanna click what is clicked in the pic) enable dvd/ cd over burning. when you go to burn it will ask you if you wanna enable overburn or something like that ... say si.

... whats the file type?

http://nero.com/us/nero-up.php

get the first and second update packs.

do you also have nero burning rom ? not "express" its the one for nubs.

Bucknub 08-26-2004 09:14 PM

I dont know wtf is going on

I got this error for one of the updates

CRC failed in NeroVision\NeroFiles\CDI\CDI_IMAG.RTF
Unexpected end of archive

and the other update is just a demo verion and it sed it will overwrite my nero express.

Bucknub 08-26-2004 09:19 PM
