Thoughts on the RNC
Heh.. Pataki is speaking now. I don't really agree with the constant 9/11 references, but I do sort of understand the point they're trying to make.
Funniest thing so far is Pataki saying, "[John Kerry] is a man who has to Google his own name to find out where he stands." And then the crowd started chanting, "Flip flop. Flip flop." Anyway, your thoughts? |
not watching happy:

9/11 was 3 years ago. Tell me something recent GWB did lately and i'll praise him. One trick whore.

I just want to see what people thought about the RNC, not have some little bitches (read: Pyro) come in and turn it into a Canada vs. America thread. |
pataki couldnt pronounce terror so it bugged me, other than that the video and the speech for W look good so far.
im pretty impressed by the choices they've made to do the big speeches even tho there have been serious moments of cheese "don't be economic girlie men" comes to mind |
Sweet Lord, Bush just spoke in Spanish.
On a side note, his "job improvement zones" sound like a theory I've heard before.. sort of like Chinese spheres of influence. I've got to look back at some things, but as I recall the precendent is that it is extraordinarily efficient in equalizing trade defecits. In fact, spheres of influence in China are what have created a multi-billion dollar trade defecit in Chinese favor since Clinton signed the agreement. Also, now that he's fully revealed his wage reforms, I'm liking them. I was worried before, but it seems like he may be modeling the reforms after German policies. Germans, like many other European countries, get MUCH more paid time off than we. In fact, they are guaranteed 30 days of paid vacation each year. The average vacation time taken in a year by a German worker is 6 weeks. In Sweden, it's 8. It'd be pretty cool to move in that direction. |
i was watching and bush's voice cracked rofl.

kthx.. no debates and flaming.
Liberal mouth-flapping can have its own thread. If you want to comment on what was said at the convention, please feel free to exercise your constitutional right, but debate the issues, not the history of the speakers. |
Holy shit.. hold on to your hard hats, fellas.
G.W. just busted it out, "[Freedom] is The Almighty God's gift to every man, woman and child on this Earth!" We'll hear about this for the next month. Being a Christian, I of course don't have a problem with it. |

i watched a bit of both the DNC and the RNC and so far i can only sum it up as:
9/11 vs. Kerry's Vietnam service... i find it hard to identify either party's view on basic issues, other than talk of tax reforms that seem secondary to a presidential pissing contest... |
Didnt read the thread..Still posting dance:
|
RNC is nothing but scare tactics and 9/11 references, that what i got from it

Yep, they over emphasize 9/11. What about the economy? What about internal jobs? What about welfare, social security, healthcare? Oh wait, terrorists kill thousands of people. Shit then what happend to all those people that died in america from sickness and disease because of the lack of health care. oOo: oOo: oOo:
|
Bush made all the fake promises today in his speech... I fail to see how he plans of finding funding for all of these things
He plans on tax cuts, furthering his war in Iraq, yet somehow promissing programs impossible to pay for unless he imposes more taxes and stops the war in Iraq.... |
The funny thing is that it will probably cost just as much to get all the troops out of iraq as it does to continue the war. If he wins he'll probably just slowly take them out, however, if he loses he shafts kerry into pulling them out and losing major funds. Lose, lose situation.
|
STFU Noctis. Bush will be the downfall of America.

Are you kidding? He went over all that. Now whether or not you AGREE with is plan of attack or not is something else, but the platform was pretty clearly in no minced words laid out for the next four years. And yes 9/11 was mentioned because it has to be - it happened on his watch and the "resolution" of it is something he - and many others - are proud of. I know the DNC was trying to go positive in their convention and not mention Bush, but they made a huge mistake. and the RNC basically blew it out of the water. Even the DESIGN of Bush's podium blew away anything at the DNC. [quote:78818]He plans on tax cuts, furthering his war in Iraq, yet somehow promissing programs impossible to pay for unless he imposes more taxes and stops the war in Iraq.... [/quote:78818] You. Economics 101. Now. Taxes have already been cut. Now comes labor reform and benefits for small businesses. . .yanno those guys who employ a good chunk of the American workforce. . .the ones who Kerry wants to tax the hell out of on top of making them pay workers comp, health insurance, and god knows what else. The war in Iraq - is what - 300 billion? We're an 11 TRILLION dollar economy. You do the math. This isnt Canada. 900 billion economy will only get you so far. Maybe if WE were spending 1/3 of our economy on the war we'd be in trouble. We arent. And our children wont be "born into economic slavery". |
I love TGB.

republican national convention
LAUGH could this party get any more crappy, oh lets put together millions of dollars set aside by corporations to give us a frosty colored picture of our promised ideals with people pumping up the president to people with little political knowledge brainwashed by the republican party system ideals in this country. what a load of shit. how can you be satisifed with mediocrity spank: |
STFU.

Left hyperbole. And the dogs in the street lap it up.
Quick Remedial Psi-Ops Lesson: Create an image you want to portray of your opponent in private. Take that image, multiply it by 100. Use that image as your public opinion of your opponent. The "truth" will settle somewhere between the public opinion, and your true feelings about your opponent. It happens all the time. Women screams rape when she was just kissed on the check, the public thinks something in the middle. Still higher than what you would have "settled" for and you come out ther winner. Disgusting. |
ok TGB im not economic expert...but I do kind of know things like this
When you promise expensive reforms & programs, and you currently do not generate a surplus, but only a defecit, how do you plan on paying, or making good on these promises ?(if you have no money for things like them in the first place..) It is a simple question I ask. This money either has to come from some where else, or you have to generate more taxes... Or pray for some sort of miraculous year in the economy... |
