Horror
Whats your definition of a Horror film?
The only kind of movies that scare me are really the ones where shit jumps out at you, not the actual story line....like if a person is walking at night and something really fucking freaky looking jumps out at the most unexpected time...thats about the only thing in horror films that scares me |

same. OR it has to be so realistic I.E. no dragons or fantasy shit, that you think it could happen at anytime.
|

..never saw a movie that scared me. Shit, DOOM 3 is the closest yet !!
...but, if i had to rate the scariest movie ever (for me) it would be Alien. Very suspenseful |

Watch the movie called "THE THING", a very scary movie. Event Horizon was pretty scary too.
|
to me Horror = Slasher flicks, gore not scare... scary movies to me are suspense/thrillers, that are not always gory...
|
Kazaam scared the shit out of me. Dunstin Checks In is also a frightening movie.

In hellrazor 2 the dude cuts him self with knife saying get them off of me. Not scary but makes me flinch and shit.
The Aminityville horror book scared me as a kid. |
A true horror movie to me is one that disturbs, shocks and builds tension in an audience. It doesn't always go for the cheap scare or sting. Sure, it can have those moments, but it shouldn't rely on them.
The Exorcist is an example of a pure horror movie in my books. It's shocking, vulgar, gross, tense, and (somewhat) believeable. Others that would make my list are: - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original) - The Thing - I Spit On Your Grave - A Nightmare on Elm Street - Suspiria - Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot, so fuck off. Slasher films like Friday the 13th and Halloween (ok, maybe the first Halloween...) aren't pure horror movies, really. They're just dumb fun and a great way for your date to cuddle into your shoulder. |
Cannibal Holocaust
Island of Death The Dead Next Door Sleepaway Camp |

Might've been scary back then, but I didn't get scared or jump once. Wasn't realistic enough I guess. Now, to me, movies like Signs are simply suspense/thrillers, not horror (The movie Identity is borderline). They aren't nearly as intense or as graphic as Texas Chainsaw Massacre. |
The thing owns....it is a suspense film to because you never know who is infected...when they are testing and that dude changes into one and his head splits in half and eat the other dudes head and stands up holding the guy upside down... rock: rock:
stuff that has suspense in it > gore I remember seeing some hellraiser movie where he shoots a bunch of chained hooks into somebody and pulls all their skin off. ed: |

and then you start laughing rock: |
Its only the psychological kind of movies that scare me, not the amount of blood and gore. You see, the original Texas chainsaw film was fucked up because that kind of thing can happen and has happened before, so it kind of makes you think...
Also, going to see these films or watching at home with friends defeats the object a little because when you're with friends you tend not to pay much attention and maybe act macho. You should watch horror films on your own, in a dark room, sound levels up. Anyone seen that new movie 'Saw' yet? it looks pretty interesting and has had some good write ups, even though I don't pay much attention to movie reviews, especially online sites. Here is what Saw is about: A young man named Adam (Whannell) wakes to find himself chained to a rusty pipe inside a decrepit subterranean chamber. Chained to the opposite side of the room is another bewildered captive, Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Elwes). Between them is a dead man lying in a pool of blood, holding a .38 in his hand. Neither man knows why he has been abducted; but instructions left on a microcassette, order Dr. Gordon to kill Adam within eight hours. If he fails to do so, then both men will die, and Dr. Gordon's wife, Alison (Potter), and his daughter will be killed. Recalling a recent murder investigation by a police detective named Tapp (Glover), Dr. Gordon realizes he and Adam are the next victims of a psychopathic genius known only as "Jigsaw." With only a few hours left to spare, they must unravel the elaborate puzzle of their fate in the midst of mounting terror. The killer has provided them with only a few clues and two handsaws – too weak to break their steel shackles, but strong enough to cut through flesh and bone. hellfire: |
The Thing and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original) are both awesome films
