i wonder if he's a relative of gomer pyle

It would have been cheaper to just build the subs in the first place instead of buying shitty subs from the Brits. If their actually built right, there's nothing wrong with them. But the government just wants to save money so it took shortcuts to save money.

MAybe we should buy some used Sea kings next.

imported_Fluffy_Bunny 10-06-2004 08:29 PM

I believe we have some for sail.

BTW those diesel subs do rock, that sub is state of the art sh&t but the Royal Navy prefers nuclear for some reason. Canada still has a very professional navy imho.

MrLevinstein 10-06-2004 08:32 PM

I want to ride in the first hybrid sub

It would get 10000 miles to the gallon, but the thing couldnt go faster than 5 knots to save its life! biggrin:

MinorThreat 10-06-2004 08:47 PM

So much for a "minor" fire. GG coverup.

There's a new sconfrence on CBC newsworld right now with the Chief of Defence Staff and the Vice Admiral of the Navy if anyone is interested in that.

Short Hand 10-07-2004 06:14 PM

NOTE TO SELF "DONT BUY SECOND HAND SUBS, BUILD YOURSELF".

[quote:1f1ca]The submarine was travelling to Nova Scotia from Faslane, on Scotland's west coast, after being sold to the Canadians by the Royal Navy and handed over on Saturday.

Captain Steve Upright told BBC News 24 the submarine had been examined and declared fit prior to its handover to the Canadians.

And Captain Finney said: "The early indications of the situation on board Chicoutimi is that the problem is nothing to do with any technical aspect, the design or build."
