I'm pretty sure us Canadians will be able to view the action as well, I'll assume Mr.B meant 'North American'...

Unknown_Sniper 10-27-2004 10:49 AM

one of my teachers told me that because of the angels of the moon, earth and sun, and where te sun is shining past the earth, the first part of te eclipse should be where the himilayans are so we might be able to see some o the mountains reflected on the moon, theyll be small but it wont just be a smooth curve of blackness. itll have small teeth like shit.

As the article said, you can pretty much see the lunar eclipse from anywhere on earth. Except for our Aussie friends I guess.

I'm in an astronomy class right now so I have to record the time to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th contact and with these numbers I am have to determine the size of the moon. Actually pretty easy to do. Should be fun. Looks like it will be a clear night tonight, which is lucky for us. Usually its all overcast from now until march.

Arkan 10-27-2004 06:16 PM

I'll poke my head out of the house to grab a look. At least a lunar eclipse doesn't screw up yer eyes.

wintersforge 10-27-2004 07:28 PM

just checked it out and its pretty spooky looking mwah: mad:

fujimi7su 10-27-2004 07:31 PM

its so foggy here lately i havent seen the sun since sunday

(no pun intended, im serious)

even if i could i probably wouldnt watch this...

Coleman 10-27-2004 08:34 PM

way too cloudy for me to see anything (eastern PA)

Arkan 10-27-2004 09:50 PM

Saw the eclipse. It was ok but would've been better with a scope.

Jin-Roh 10-27-2004 10:03 PM

I hate the clouds at night. cuss:

ninty 10-27-2004 10:33 PM

Oh man was it ever clear out tonight.

That was pretty cool. I know its no where near as cool as a solar eclipse, I really hope to experience one in my lifetime. If you ever get the chance to experience a solar eclipse, DO IT. I have heard from those that it is the most spectatcular experience of their life. The air cools noticeably it darkens in the middle of the day, everything about it is wrong, and thats what makes it so rare and interesting.

Back to the lunar eclipse, it was pretty cool to see the earth shadow to intersect the moon, and then when it was in total eclipse, it was a real deep blood red. I could explain why but you guys probably don't want to hear that. I could also tell you why the sky is blue, but I doubt you want to hear that either. Very cool lunar eclipse. Glad I was around to see it. Happens a couple times a year usually, so if you missed it this time, try to catch it next time.

Just use some binocs. Thats what I did. I have a telescope as well, but I didn't really want tp set it up. The binocs work well enough.

Akuma 10-28-2004 03:53 AM

It was too cloudy here to.

I did get one good glimpse of the lovely red moon, then I went inside because I wasn't going to wait for the elcipse.
