War of the Worlds teaser trailer, could it be...
that we may see a change in Spielberg? Could he be reverting back to his roots and make a kickass sci-fi adventure movie and yet incorporate interesting characters and whitty dialogue?
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/waroftheworlds/ Yes it's a teaser trailer, but can you imagine the possibilties of this film? I mean if Spielberg does this right we may have a WWII style global battle with the world uniting against alien invaders. Otherwise we'll just get a multi-layered story about survivors trying to stop the alien invasion by discovering the ultimate weapon...germs! I prefer the former I'm keeping my fingers crossed |
Too bad that Tom Cruise is a dickhole. But it looks decent.
|
I'll watch the British version before I watch this.
|
its a shame the ending sucks.
|
That has definite potential.
|
I'll see anything with tom criuse in it happy:
|
cool
|
Looks good...but is this going to be like another Independence Day?
Dont get me wrong...ID was awesome... |

I love alien invasion flicks. I haven't seen the original so I will do that right away in anticipation of this.
I did however read that in the original, the invaders were from Mars, correct? Well...that idea is a little dated, since there isn't any intelligent life on mars. There may be life, but it's not advanced enough to build interstellar space ships and the like. Also, can someone tell me in the original, why did the martians invade? Fore resources, or something else? This always bugs me in movies. Our planet is so small and insignificant, and there are so many other planets out there that have resources like ours that invading earth for our resources just doesn't cut it for me. Anyway, i'll just have to put that aside if that is the case and enjoy the movie. |
Resources, I think.
I haven't seen the original in a while though. |
Isnt the movie a book written by H.G. Wells?

Read the book, seen the movie many times, seen every episode of the series on Sci-Fi back in the early 90's. Definitely looking foreword to Spielberg's version.

Orson Wells reading War of the Worlds aloud on the radio and causing many to think the world was really under attack is one of the best mind-fucks ever....

The fact that you can't comprehend someone reading ( even if they're American, as if it matters anyways ) A War of the Worlds by HG Wells and being inspired to make a movie to share this great story( even if it's based loosely on the original novel ) to the public frightens me. Are you really that ignorant or just drunk? Either way, the 1953 film was American, and no one seemed to care back then. |
ive got a valid reason as none you bastards can steal it from woking!!!! GETEEEEEEOUT

You did it with Peter Pan, Romeo & Juliet & now you're doing it with War of the Worlds, nothing is sacred. Try to imagine what it would be like if Australia took 'Of Mice & Men & changed it around a lil so that the ozzy-lingo Lenny saved the world with his fuzzy wabbits & then maybe you will understand. This isn't about jealousy etc its about my culture being taken by hollywood & reproduced in a tacky, hollywood storyline. I mean wtf... Tom cruise? This just means another generation of American high school kids get to grow up thinking War of the Worlds was an American production. eek: |

[/quote:5b485] Actually, it's taken the Novel since it's birth was in 1898, and twisting it with a modern story so it can appeal to the modern public as it did in 1953. HG Wells was given credit for the story in the movie, and I'm sure he will in the new one. If you don't agree with the movie, don't see it. The movie company decided to make this movie, not the American public which is "stealing it" and turning it to " our " perspective ( do you know how many people live in Pennsylvania alone? ) This movie may be made in America, but does that literally mean it's an American movie? Oh yeah we decided to have a good ol' election one week to decide if Speilberg would direct or if Tom Cruise would star or even what script would be used in the remake of "War of the Worlds" Trust me when I say I know a lot of people who enjoy reading, and they know War of the Worlds is a novel. They know who HG Wells is and they appreciate what he has done for Literature. I think you're just generalizing everything and claiming that just because something is american or you've heard it on the news it manifests the thoughts of millions of unique minds. Philadelphia Killing Mach is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. rolleyes: |
shut the fuck up you dumb shite. =killing machine
