Anyone out there currently on medications for A.D.D.? (Not A.D.H.D.)

I've been living my life with ADD since I was about 7 or 8, and my family and I have gone through all the therapies to try and correct it without drugs with little or no success, so herr doktor decided it might be a good idea to try me out on a small dose trial run of a drug. (Stratera I think it was? Not ritalin)

I'm wondering if anyone here might have had to deal with this as well, and might be able to offer some advice or something on how to deal with it.

Go ahead and post the usual shit you guys do, if I say don't it won't change anything. If you have something serious to say about this though, please do.

yeah, i use concerta, becasue it has hardly any side effects, but i think my dosage is too much, i take 54 mg, the usual is 36 i think. anyways, i get jittery sometimes and break out in sweats, and feel REALLY uncomfortable.

i hear stratera is good, rittalin and aderal suck, i took both

here is an actually conversation with her

Me: "hey I just counted these ink cartridges and im missing 1200 bucks worth"
Manager: "what 1200 dollars you cant be missing that"
"well i just counted piece by piece each one and..."
"Nestle....is there candy in that.....no damn it it just a disply....what were you saying"

When do you normally feel uncomfortable?

The thing I'm most concerned about are their speed like effects and possibility of substance abuse. I'm no puritan christian boy nor am I a super druggie, but getting hooked on this stuff past what I normally would use scares the hell out of me.

youre probably not going to get addicted ... i wont worry myself sick about that ...


i really dont understand prescribing speed to someone that has a problem staying focuses. anyone who has ever done anything like that (even coffee ffs) knows it doesnt keep you focused.

It's the nature of the "disease". Someone with ADD will have DRASTICALLY different results from the drug then someone without ADD. People without ADD get a "speed like high" while people with ADD get the chemical their body is missing.

I used to be on meds for both, then in 6th grade I said fuck this I wanna join the military so im not on them anymore

harpua was on tons of meds until our mom and stepdad finally convinced our dad and stepmom to take him off that shit and his grades went up.....with the help of a little bit of weed too

roflmao... my friend has severe ADD..

for example:

I am getting a ride with him after school, we get in the car and drive off, we are two blocks away, and he says, "Ah WTF? My steering wheel is all sticky," and tries to wipe it off and sniff it. Emmediately after that we turn a corner and he asks, "Wait, where is Cole?" We were supposed to give him a ride, too.

Watching his ADDness is hilarious.

That's just one of many, that I can think of at the moment. oOo: biggrin:

i mean i just feel uneasy, but that means i should lower the dosage.. think of it like this: add helps you star alert and pay attention. too much = too alert. if you take, like, 4 in a day, you could get hooked, but ive never felt dependant on it

I believe that a lot of these conditions/diseases/disorders are BS created by a) the medical industry to create/secure jobs, and b) by the pharmaceutical industry to make billions from the drugs they make to “treat” the "problems". Most of the time people with “behavioural disorders” are just little shits who have been allowed to grow up wild, with very little discipline/guidance from their parent(s). The easiest solution for the parents is to agree to have them doped up to the eyeballs with the latest wonder drug, because actually being a good parent and raising your children properly is just too much hard work. nag:

Except I don't have ANY "behavioural disorders" and I'm not "wild".

There's a difference between ADD and ADHD,

As I said to judas yesterday there's ADHD which is the "Sit your ass down, Shut the fuck up, and take your goddamn pills" and then there's ADD which is the quiet kid in the corner who can't focus even if he tries.

If you cared to even glance at what I wrote besides the topic you'd see that I've lived with ADD for 8 years WITHOUT medications and we're using this as a last resort.

But to say that ADD is a hoax created by the pharm companies would still include me as a member of a "hoax", which I can tell you ADD is a very serious thing that people without it just shrug off as a problem the kid has he can correct if he wants to. It's like someone saying that retarted people should be able to correct themsevles because they know they're retarted.
