thats BS plain and simple. A felony for a drawn picture?????????????? Last year some kids got into trouble for making thier hands like a gun and saying "bang bang" this world is too damn PC. When we were kids we would always play with toy guns, plastic army men and even the now racially insensitive cowboys and indians.
How did I survive? BTW my son has toy guns (what a rebel I am!!!) my daughter has real ones!!!!! |
[quote:26f92]The boys were arrested Monday on charges of making a written threat to kill or harm another person, a second-degree felony.[/quote:26f92]
The kids were arrested for this reason, not because they drew violent pictures. I don't see how drawing a picture of me killing someone and giving it to them, and me calling someone and telling them i'm going to kill them is different. Their both threats, and their both punishable under the law. Now the fact that their 9 and 10 could change things, but I guess that has to do with local laws. |
lol..when i was in kindergarden, i had no idea how to speak English, but on my way to school, i found a broken lighter and brought it to my teacher and she nearly fainted, so i told her ill throw it away ("I put in garbage") and she yelled at me and called my parents. This was back in 1993...

heh, back in like 3rd grade it was leet to have a swiss army knife and a cap gun. We would play in the park with our cap guns, now they wont even let you do that because it "promotes violent behaviour"

Thank god I dont live in Florida..I make the wierdest pictures..
I've drawn pictures of soldiers shooting eachother, with all the blood guts and gore, and back in 6th grade, me and a friend of mine in band (we hated it) drew pictures of our fat-ass band teacher and her losing her trumpet in her own fat...and in 3rd grade, I would draw that stuff all the time. lol, those teachers are P-to the - A to the RAN-to the OID! |

I got grounded and didn't even know what I did wrong. |
I remember drawing war pictures in the 4th grade. I drew tanks, planes, and bombs going off all over the place and never got into any trouble over it.
I also played "guns" with a bunch of kids my age. I had a .38 Detective Special chrome cap gun that my MOTHER purchased for me in WoolWorths. Again, i never got into trouble over it. ....also drew pictures of my 7th grade social studies teacher pinned to the wall with me throwing darts at him. Did i "want" to hurt him? No, i just didn't like him too much and thought it funny to throw darts at him on paper. Ok, i do admit hitting him with a few spitballs using a straw. Did i get into trouble for it? No, because i didn't get caught. The world has definately changed since then and we're making our youth into little grownups instead of leaving them as children. To slap handcuffs on them is totally over the top. What the hell is this world coming to? Boys will be boys and i can bet my paycheck that those boys didn't even think about doing something like that in "real life". Perhaps a session in the principals office and some counseling is all that was needed. I think the grown ups are the ones who need counseling....they forgot what it was like to be kids themselves. |
You'll all be on medication soon.

VIAGRA rock: we drew flip books of people getting cut up by geotenes, shot, squished, skateboarding and then get decapitated by a skate board. oOo: the teachers didnt care. some adult really need to losen up. they arent children for long. let them play around. |
lol...especially 9 year olds! What 9 year old doesnt go in the playground, and pretend to rip eachothers heads of with their "Force Blast" 's and "Super Moves"?
|
we used to play "war" and try to kick each other off the monkeybars...fun time that was.

There's a good reason why fark.com has a "Florida" icon for their headlines.
Some wacky shit goes on down there, apparently. eek: |
the kids dont need to be arrested, and suspended, they need to be talked to to figure out what thr problem is/what provoked them to draw the pictures... sigh
|
I wonder if it was even considered that it was just for fun and no malice was intended, kids are kids they do whacky things. Kids are forced to grow up too fast and charging them will only help that.
|
I guess the need for councillors has dropped dramatically since I was in school...they should have AT LEAST, brought the behaviour up to the councillors so they could assess the situation...I remember getting in trouble for bringing a Mortal Kombat book in to school because of all the fatalitys...haha, fucken gay...I hate political correctness... mad:
