Robot army?
I think maybe someone posted something about this... I apologize if so...
But yesterday I heard a radio show discussing this new American Army experiment and its VERY freaky. It's called: Special Weapons Observation Reconnaissance Detection Systems- or SWORDS. There are 18 fighting robots being deployed in Iraq in March. They will be able to shoot and kill targets through being remotely controlled with a Joystick like device with target viewed on a video screen at a military base. I listened to Pacifica Radio- progressive radio station- and there were people discussing the horror of the idea that now American soldiers will be completely removed from having the emotion of shooting a human face to face in person... And instead will be able to kill them via a joystick- as if they are playing a video game. http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/top/story/ ... 73,00.html This is extremely scary, and at least in the US, nobody knows about this. There was a little story in the AP about it, but it has not gotten much publicity. |
Yeah i seen that as well, worlds getting closer to shit you see in scifi movies, in some cases its already there. wallbash:

Yeah this will go well I'm sure. Great idea. Lets make it emotionally EASIER to kill human beings....For fucks sake, what the hell is wrong with these people?? They're supposed to be smarter!

I heard a rumour (currently unverified) that the Pentagon and Valve have worked together to combine CS with super-top-secret state-of-the-art killer androids that are stationed in the middle east. When you control your character in CS, you're actually controlling these cyborg things. So remember this - the next time you shoot someone in de_dust2 you're probably killing an Iraqi in downtown Falluja.

^rofl biggrin:

Its like years ago when they said the US army were training on doom and everyone laughed. in the world of today the best way to get you to do stuff is desensitize you to hell and the funny thing is that this will be made to be a good thing cos it is protecting allied lives.

....Yeah, at a cost of more non-american lives. Do you think there is gonna be less "incidents" when you have people controlling death machines with a joystick, looking through a little tv screen? I just hope I'm not alive whenever it is they're put into service. ....and then what happens when the enemy gets a hold of these machines and/or the technology.... oOo: |

But you most likely will be alive when they're put in service: [quote:a763f]The US army is preparing to send 18 of these remote-controlled robotic warriors to fight in Iraq beginning in March or April.[/quote:a763f] ^From the article. |
