Personal Photos

Now that I got my new digital camera, i'm sort of in a dilema on how to save all of my pictures taken. At the moment, I make a new folder in Window's Explorer for every ''topic'' of photos from my camera. It's a pain in the ass to go through and sort.

What are some good programs to manage your pictures? I saw my friend's G5 computer and he used iphoto...it seemed very good. Is there a PC equivalent to iphotos?

I use the software that came with my digiweb cam

well yeah. I use photoshop to edit them. I'm not a total noob when it comes to editing pictures so i don't need an AOL-like picture editing program. My main concern is easy and nice sorting and storing.

Sony DSC-W1

I love the camera so much. And in case you were wondering, I did not pay $350 for it. I got it from NewEgg.com (cheapest place i found that was reliable) for $299

Try Picasa.[/quote:41af4]i'm installing now.

All of the other programs from download.com suck major ass. I wouldn't think that they'd be that terrible. I even did a bunch of different sortings (most downloaded, best rated, recently added, etc.)

You could aslo try acdsee[/url:b9f87] and Picajet[/url:b9f87]. Acdsee is supposed to be very good.

Try Kodak's EasyShare. It includes some nifty features such as cropping tools and red eye remover. It also includes One Touch to make your prints look even better.

I love Picasa so much. Thanks again Buttocks for the suggestion. It's exactly what i wanted. It is so simple to edit, manage, and make cool stuff with (slideshows, collages, etc.)

here's a collage I put together in one click of a button

Here's something you should know about Picasa; If you edit a image inside Picasa the program will not alter the actual image on your hard-drive*, it saves the altered info in a picasa.ini file in the folder where that image file is. When you view the photo in another program it'll look the same as it always has, but when you view it in Picasa it'll show the "new" altered version. If you then export the image from Picasa it'll permanently change the image to reflect whatever alterations you made to it inside Picasa. I hope that makes sense. oOo:

(That was the way it used to work, they might have changed it for v2)

* There is an exception or two, but for most of the manipulation tools it won't alter the actual photo on the HD.

ps: Did you take the photos of the pawns?

My brother's room mate took to pictures of the pawns. He's real big into close-up photography.
