Ferich 02-05-2005 02:58 PM

I find that there's a fine line between being ready for a fight and provoking a fight.

thats incrediblely gay

Jin-Roh 02-05-2005 07:47 PM

North Korea
Military manpower - availability: males age 15-49: 6,181,038 (2004 est.)
Military manpower - fit for military service: males age 15-49: 3,694,855 (2004 est.)

South Korea
Military manpower - availability: males age 15-49: 14,233,895 (2004 est.)
Military manpower - fit for military service: males age 15-49: 8,966,241 (2004 est.)

United States of America
Military manpower - availability: males age 15-49: 73,597,731 (2004 est.)
Military manpower - fit for military service: NA (2004 est.) (I am guessing around 37,900,GF1)

"Democrats": 87,831,626 (46,866,741)
"Commies": 6,181,038 (3,694,855)

... and in the worst case scenario, China joins N. Korea: 385,705,726 (211,838,207)

Yeah, I think we got a chance. cool:

Without China- 14:1
With China- 2.5926^12:1
I think that's right. oOo:

(Yes, I know that manpower is not the only factor that should be considered.)

imported_Grim_Reaper 02-05-2005 08:03 PM

north korea would unleash their nuclear weapons, but as merlin said, this is very very bad

[quote="Grim_Reaper":039ba]north korea would unleash their nuclear weapons, but as merlin said, this is very very bad[/quote:039ba]

... and where would they send them? rolleyes:

Machette 02-05-2005 08:15 PM

In North Korea...in 1999, 5.05% of the total population of 21,386,000 (or one for every 19 people) was a member of the armed forces...making them have the highest percentage of military personnel in the world.

BlackJackal 02-05-2005 10:03 PM

this blows. think about all the re-called troops. annoy:
but i support our military 100% of the way, i, in the back of my mind, knew that eventually korea would become a major theatre of ops.

closest part of america to NK is ..... ALASKA

Trunks 02-06-2005 10:13 AM

This isnt good. North korea shouldnt be underestimated... Does anyone know how powerful their airforce and navy is supposed to be? I know their army is supposed to be well armed and trained, but what of the other two branches... Because in case of a war, if we impose a naval blockade, and then achieve air superiority, then its all over.

Arkan 02-06-2005 12:02 PM

I told you fuckers!! The next world threat is N.Korea and China.

rdeyes 02-06-2005 01:52 PM

i dont see why the people in Norh Korea dont revolt, what do they have to lose ? they are all starving and Kim Il Jung is a freak physco ruthless dictator.

ninty 02-06-2005 02:52 PM

because the army is loyal to the government. they get all the food and money and stuff. the people have nothing. rations were just cut in nkorea from 300 grams per day per person to 250 grams. 250 grams is nothing. certainly not enough to live on.

One possible reason is because they are used to it, and it is hard to change to anything different.

strvs 02-06-2005 03:31 PM

only adding fuel to the fire.

does the us even have 690,000 troops to put over there??!?

Pyro 02-07-2005 09:10 AM

It just seems like they're asking for a War...last thing Id ask for...but hey if it wets the conservatives whistles, we can't do much about it for 4 years.

I don't see what you mean? All the conservatives didn't get together one day and decide to provoke a war with North Korea.

To me it seems like a cause and effect. Who didn't see this war coming? Especially with some of the crap Kim Jong has been pulling on his own people.

We fought them before. It wouldn't be that bad, unless we really do underestimate them.

In your opinion...Would you believe Iraq should take priority over North Korea, as it obviouslly has.

Your question implies that you believe otherwise. What do you propose, bombing North Korea instead of Iraq.

I might be with you in that North Korea is a bigger threat. However, something about this story does not ring true with me.

The US certainly does not have enough active duty troops to send over there. That number may mean total US and S. Korean troops, in which case that would mean a few thousand more Americans.

I'm against it though. All the S. Koreans do is complain about Americans in South Korea. I say the hell with them and bring our guys home. We've held the North Koreans at bay long enough. And, like 99 said, their malnurished asses won't be in any mood to fight.

Personally I think the Iraq war started already so whatever I say won't change that fact and how much of a priority it is. What exactly do you mean priority anyways? They actually care when they're getting shot at? Or need a certain number for an occupation force? They invaded already so I don't see a point in debating about the priority of needing to start a war.

I definately think two conflicts going on at one time would be idiotic and a blunder. One almost fizzled out but still a hotzone - the other could provoke china, nuclear holocaust, etc.

We'll see what happens.

Hell, there's even talk about the US invading Iran.

Pyro 02-08-2005 12:22 PM

Well I agree that it would be stupid to fight two wars at once.
