Brothers In Arms goes Gold

http://www.brothersinarmsgame.com/us/fu ... p?id=10109

SAN FRANCISCO – February 24, 2005 - Ubisoft™, one of the world's top game publishers, and acclaimed developer Gearbox Software, today announced that Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30™, the highly-anticipated World War II game, has gone gold and will soon be on store shelves. With its breakthrough squad-based combat and unprecedented authenticity, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 is poised to revolutionize the WWII genre when it ships on the Xbox® video game system March 1. Both the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PC versions will be shipping to stores shortly after. The pre-order campaign is currently under way for the title at the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $49.99.

Created by Gearbox Software, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 is the most authentic WWII shooter ever, earning endorsements from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation and the Patton Museum. Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 is based on the true story of the 101st Airborne paratroopers who led the D-Day invasion and will immerse gamers in the gritty, uncensored and emotionally-charged side of war. The game’s missions have been crafted using after action reports, aerial reconnaissance images, and eye-witness accounts, much of which is included in over five hours of bonus extras. Players of all skill levels can battle their way through twenty epic single player chapters or go online and challenge their friends with ten competitive and innovative multiplyer missions.

I haven't been following this game at all. I got kind of tired of WWII shooters a while back and first person shooters in general It seems like the WWII and Vietnam thing has been done to death now. I have watched a few videos for it, and it worries me a bit. The whole squad tactics thing is hopefully implemented well and easy to use. I would definetly like to see these types of games if it can be done properly. Hopefully this is one of those games. I will check it out when it comes out for sure.

This may get old in a week, from what I've seen. Unless the AI is as replayable as they say. Hurry up BF2 and Imperial Glory.

The MP seems uber gay to me...2 people per team controlling 5 players each.

a total of 4 people in a room at once = fucking gay

mr.miyagi 02-24-2005 04:33 PM

Well, I agree that alot of fps's get old very quick, the one thing I liked hearing about (which i don't know for sure) is that it has large maps, can anyone confirm this?

I mean I love teamwork and battling but sometimes its great to go exploring in fileds for no reason, i love doin that.......... angel:

From what I've seen it's gonna be one of the best WW2 fps ever. Until of course ( common knowledge ) it's players get tired of it or there's zero mod support. With the exception of how nyck said the MP is going to be, it sounds pretty sweet. But personally, MP outweights SP ( that is once SP gets old. I personally LOVE SP. But since SP usually doesn't have replayability, which gets you your money's worth... ) to me in the end.

It's definately common knowledge that a game is going to get old after awhile, but there's been so many WW2 fps games. Hopefully this one can break some kind of mold. Here's some vids, which may answer some of your questions Miyagi. freak:

Any news on a demo?

Tripper 02-24-2005 04:50 PM

I can't wait for this one....The only games I really bother with are historical war FPS games, i.e Vietnam & WW2 FPS....

I think its each person controls a sqaud of 3, and theres a max of 4 people per game, so it's really 4 people+12 bots=16 player battles.

That kinda sucks, but I don't mind trying something new. If this doesn't go so well though, I hope they release a patch or something containing DM/TDM.

Ferich 02-24-2005 05:32 PM

If there was an official announcement about the mp, could someone post that link? Thanks.

These crackers claim as a feature on their site that it's the first tactical FPS set in WW2. eek: Hidden and Dangerous 2 took that honor a year or so ago. Anyways.

I always thought hidden and dangerous was third person that changed to first person when you were aiming a gun. Never actually played it so i dunno.

Ferich 02-24-2005 06:03 PM

Nope, you can wander around in first person in HD2. There's 3rd person and a Tactical mode I believe too.

geRV 02-24-2005 06:07 PM

Multi sounds interesting, controlling bots to try and take down another guy controlling a squad of bots, don;t think thats been done before, hopefully the ai is as good as they say it is. beer:

The offtopic thread will get plenty more replies than a thread there would get. But I'll get zone or nubweed to move this anyhow.

Yeah that's the first Hidden & Dangerous....The second one is apparently ALOT better than the first, which was a really good game in theory, but the controls were shit and the movement was awkward.

What? I thought they cancelled co-op for this game... eek:

Jin-Roh 02-24-2005 08:05 PM

They should put in some bot settings like BF42 or something; and yes, they should put in TDM/DM. If not, then someone is most likely going to be making a mod to play that. rolleyes:

TonyMontana 02-24-2005 08:24 PM

no matter how much work they put into "realistic" bots, they are still gonna be suck. I won't be buying BIA. I'll probably play the single player.

Hawke 02-24-2005 08:29 PM

I am going to laugh so hard when this game flops..... It has almost set itself on that path.

Most FPS games nowadays rely on MP.... this ones doesnt seem to great. Those bots better be something special.

Haven't they already started making a second one for it?

I likewise won't be buying this.
