Arkan 03-03-2005 05:39 PM

....thats a shame. Perhaps they should've went in armed with SWAT teams and such. Too bad 4 good guys lost their lives fighting evil.

Too bad it was too late.

Maplegyver 03-03-2005 05:44 PM

hrmm. is jtf 2 only stationed in ottawa, or do they have bases on the east and west's coasts?

ninty 03-03-2005 05:48 PM

No it's only in Ottawa. These guys were from Edmonton. Probably PPCLI.

Press confrence is on CBC now. RCMP says they were guarding the place overnight and the suspect wasn't there. But then in the morning he showed up and killed the RCMP guarding the place. Thats why they wern't swat. I guess they didn't think the guy would come home or something.

bukdez 03-03-2005 05:48 PM

thats some fuked-up shit... rip...

Arkan 03-03-2005 05:53 PM

....you're telling me ONE armed suspect killed 4 trained mounties gaurding the complex??

ninty 03-03-2005 05:56 PM

It was with a high powered rifle, so he could have been 200+ meters away, while the RCMP only had their pistols. You're not gonna hit anything from long distances with a pistol. RCMP were also wearing body armour, so it had to get through that too.

I wasn't there nor do i know the layout or weapon details but....ya think after hearing a single shot the officers would've seeked cover?

Like i said, hard to comment without knowing details. I'm sure the officers did what they were trained to do but somehow the bad guy(s) had the edge.

Yeah, I know. I agree, it does sound kind of oOo:

How can one druggie kill 4 trained cops.

Probably won't know for a while about exactly what happened, so really I can't tell you either.

Thats on a Native Reserve and there are A LOT of problems on the reserves.

Anyway, the guy was charged today, the killings didn't happen today. Only 5 people died from gundhots in Northern Alberta today. oOo:

Ask yourselves: if the government had legalized marijuana and kept it under
control like they do for alcohol, would this have happened ? This is ridiculous.

No, that's why i'm pretty much for legalizing marijuana.

That, and the fact that so much money is spent on trying to stop something that really isn't that harmful. It just makes sense to legalize it and control it.

Duke_of_Ray 03-03-2005 07:33 PM

He easily could have been a trained woodsman/ hunter etc. and finding cover in a forest in the winter is extremely hard. considering the foileage is dead, and white snow covers the ground.

SoLiDUS 03-03-2005 10:07 PM

It's not like mounties have extensive firearms training: a few trips to a firing
range or anywhere with targets will make anyone as competent. The only real
difference is how someone reacts when in a firefight...

ninty 03-03-2005 10:30 PM

Mounties will have extensive training.

I'm in the reserves and we are tested every year. If its someones job everyday like the RCMP, i'm sure their going to have extensive training.

You can't really train for a firefight, because the only way its going to be realistic is if there is an actual enemy out there. The only thing you can do is teach classes, and hope for the best when it comes around.

cbc news report just said that there was 2 guys in the building and 2 on guard out side (in the front) and the killer snuck into the building and shot the guys inside and most likely killed the guards on the way out then killed himself

SoLiDUS 03-04-2005 12:57 AM

All that work only to end up killing himself... lol

No. Death Penalty was abolished in the 70's if I remember correctly. Looked it up and it was gone in '76.

[quote:e8812]When is it being released on Steam?[/quote:e8812]
After DOD is released, so...a couple years.
