Calling All Metalheads!

I'm trying to burn an MP3 CD of some sick nice headbanging goodness. I like the jack-boot and clean riffs that most good metal bands offer, but I really don't care much from the growling and screaming (no emo or screamo plz). I've got room for about 50 tracks, so fire away. I've included stuff by In Flames, Airut, God Forbid, Maiden, Lamb of God, Pantera, Megadeth, and Dimmu Borgir. I mean really, wax this topic.

rock:

I'll be much obliged, motherfuckers.

Tripper 03-14-2005 09:45 PM

I'm just new into Metal, but here's some of the stuff I've been enjoying:

Testament, Anthrax, Machine Head, GWAR, Exodus....

go original metal with priest:
  • island of domination
    dissedent agressor
    steeler
    deceiver
    you got another thing coming
    victim of changes (live)

learn some of your metal roots that way.

then you could go :
  • dio: last in line
    maiden: the trooper
manowar: call to arms (the song is a joke but they take themselves so seriously it's actually good)
    sabbath: heaven and hell
    ufo: lights out
    motorhead: ace of spades

Those are two pretty decent labels for some of the modern stuff.

Art Attack 03-15-2005 08:55 AM

check out http://www.victoryrecords.com for some more

guarnere 03-15-2005 10:00 AM

HA, once again Godsmack amazes me...

His list of bands he obviously got off the 'shirt wall' in Hot Topic.

happy: Thanks for the laugh Rodsmack. beer:

Zoner 03-15-2005 11:33 AM

Iron Maiden: Anything. You can't go wrong.

Mastodon: Look for "Blood & Thunder" or "Megalodon"

Shadows Fall - Act Of Contrition

Machine Head - Imperium (so many changes in that song...great stuff)

Any of the bands in the 80s glory days:
- Testament
- Anthrax
- Megadeth
- Venom
- Slayer
- Suicidal Tendencies
- D.R.I.
- Metallica
- Kreator
- Exodus
- Metal Church
- Judas Priest
- Overkill (search for "Elimination". Awesome.)
- Motorhead

Check out some of Bruce Dickinson's solo stuff too, especially tunes from "Chemical Wedding" and "Accident of Birth".

Let us know what you come up with.

Radiohead's a bit more alternative, than metal.... beer:

Pyro 03-15-2005 12:51 PM

I wouldn't classify Radiohead as alternative...but id say they're closer to that than metal

anything after the bends i know isn't alternative

If you read what I posted again, you'll find that's exactly what I said. oOo:

Proteus 03-15-2005 01:06 PM

Seriously download Art of Balance, and Stepping outside the circle by Shadows Fall. Two best songs by them IMO.

Innoxx 03-15-2005 02:56 PM

Heh, thanks guys, looks like I got a full plate tonight.

Akuma 03-15-2005 03:18 PM

Godsmack, he said metal not pop.

Here is my list. I even did it by song for you. (Plus cations for some songs... happy: )

Absu - She Cries She Quiet Lake (Amazing drumming....)
Amon Amarth - Fate of Nords
Arsis - Return
Bathory - Father To Son
Bathory - Flash Of The Silverhammer
Behemoth - Anything from Thelema 6 or Demigod
Bloodbath - Outnumbering the Day
Bloodbath - Eaten (maybe to growely for you, but the it's so fucking heavy...)
Canopy - Symbiotic (amazing melodic death with no label, I'll send you the link if you are interested)
Catamenia - Calm Before the Storm
Celtic Frost - Dethroned Emperor (old school thrash - fathers of black metal)
Dark Fortress - Self Mutilation
Dark Lunacy - Cold Embrace
Dark Tranquillity - Punish My Heaven (similar to old In Flames just a lot better)
Dawn - Stalker's Blessing (melodic black... not sure if you'd like it)
Dimension Zero - The Final Destination
Dissection - Where Dead Angels Lie (growely, but one the best songs ever written)
Edge Of Sanity - Covenant of Souls
Enslaved - Havenless
Finntroll - Jaktens Tid (folk black metal, I think you'll like it)
Graveworm - I: The Machine
In Flames - Episode 666
Kalmah - They Will Return
Necrophagist - Diminished to Be (great tech death)
Satyricon - Mother North (ala top sig)
Slayer - Angel Of Death
Suidakra - Signs for the Fallen
The Project Hate MCMXCIX - Nailed
Thyrfing - Mjolner (similar to Finntroll)
Venom - Welcome To Hell
Windir - Todeswalser
Windir - The Spiritlord (both are bit hard to listen to at first... but it's so good I'll kill you if you pass it up)
Wintersun - Death And The Healing
Woods of Ypres - Dragged Across A Forest Floor

You should be good to go now. I didn't add anything too brutal. happy:

I don't really care. Undeceived was okay at best. The ones after that were just horrible. I've heard better metal from stepping on my cat's tail.

i believe a few (and proably only a few) others may relate to this. was in magazine store today .....happened to see judas priest on the cover of a mag. picked it up. it was revolver magazine. never heard of it. opened it and realized: baby, you are getting old. didn't recognize one band until i got to the article called "Great 80s Metal Bands". the clerk is still wondering who the idiot at the mag rack was yelling " fuck that, they rock/rocked ". i didn't buy the magazine but i did pick up generation kill instead (the audio tape).

I get that too because I don't know anything about modern American pop-metal.

Maybe you should expand your metal searches... There are some kick ass modern thrash bands that would make Anthrax/Slayer/Kreator/etc proud.
