AOL's new browser

Meh, its not bad, instead of clicking IE to open a new page and keeping your olod one and having like 4 IEs open, this one just keeps them in one window under tabs as you can see at the top under the file, edit, view etc bar.

Another cool feature is if you hold your mouse over your favorites, it gives you a picture of the website. Same as if you hold it over the forward or back buttons, it shows you a pic of the website you wanna goto. Any of you guys DL it to try it yet?

Godsmack 03-21-2005 11:18 AM

mehh get avant browser

Milla 03-21-2005 11:34 AM

It has built in pop up stopper, and it also has a search function, so i i want to find something specific on a page im looking at i type the word in the search and it highlights it. Pretty neat.

Godsmack 03-21-2005 11:35 AM

Yep that's what chaps my butt the most. As for the other functions you talk about....it's about time AOL started catching up! I use the Mozilla Suite. When I want to search I just type what I'm searching for in the address bar and click Search. It does a Google search automatically. No big deal but it saves a step and I don't need a special search box.

I also like MSN Explorer 9.0. Nice layout and control panel.

Milla 03-21-2005 01:20 PM

If you got AOL you can activate the top speed function, it makes everything much faster loading and downloading wise.

Got it. My wife uses it because she's scared to learn anything else. I don't think that AOL at its fastest is as fast as Firefox.

In fact, because my wife is so computer illiterate, I have to pay for AOL in addition to my cable bill. Dagnabit!

Akuma 03-21-2005 03:22 PM

I hate AOL for the simple reason its surfing for dummies ( no offense)
But every day some tard calls me and says stuff like " AOL didnt do that and AOL let me do this" and i'm like so fuckin what!! Learn to handle a real browser! It's not rocket science its just IE with stabilizers. Sorry for the rant but when you spend a 108 mins tellin some idiot how to browse with IE after he has swapped from AOL and he decides to cancel his service cos he " cant get his head round IE!" then you will feel my pain.

Sgt. Paine 03-21-2005 08:12 PM

Firefox had this ages before GayOL

Milla 03-21-2005 08:12 PM

I'll post this in here instead of in a new thread.....

Netscape are still on the go, and they released Netscape 8.0 Beta[/url:d261b] a while ago. I installed it to see what it's like and there's one cool thing I've noticed so far. You can switch between the IE rendering engine or the Gecko/Mozilla one. You can even set it on a site-by-site basis; so if you want to use Gecko to view site "A", and IE to view site "B" you can set this in the preferences and it'll change for you automatically.

Looks pretty good. BTW - I see you have a bookmark for Dictionary.com. That is the site that I installed as an extension to my Firefox and Mozilla browsers. All you do is highlight a word and it will open another tab that has the correct spelling and definition. Pretty helpful.
