Car Shopping...
Well, I have some extra scratch laying around and I'm thinking of dropping it on leasing a car. I'm looking for a compact-mid-range sedan or coupe that is under $20,000 (cdn). Gotta have good fuel economy and decent power to get up those icy hills in the winter. Must include a block heater and air condition. What you y'all recommend?
don't lease
What's easier to finance?
I don't know, but at the end of the lease you end up paying more for a lease and still don't have a car.
If you have a lot lying around, save up and buy the car with cash. The interest will bite you in the ass.
Lol, I'm not rich. I'll take me a decade to save up $20,000.
Civic!
I was looking at a Civic earlier today. It seems like a possiblity, but I wanna know what else is out there. I don't know too much about the newer cars.

Can't go wrong with a typical Corolla....Cheap, reliable...I'm on my second in a row, and I have to say it's a great model....

20,000.00 CAD = 16,496.21 USD |
Thank you...
In that case I'd go for a Toyota Corrola, or maybe a used Nissan Altima. My dad got one for about $17k with a 3500 trade in, but I'm sure you'd be able to pick one up with low miles for that price. Are you going towards something new or used? Also, you want just a fwd car or are you looking for awd (subaru) which get decent gas milage. |
Buy the best car you can without getting a loan.
for Canada cheapest lease car is any model Kia whether you like the look of them is a different story but great fuel economy and very cheap.

I love mitsus. Some of the best goddamn cars in teh whole world. OF course mitsu is goign through a ver yvery bad time right now and have taken away a lot of things such as help for older cars but they have a new guy running their finance and he is expected to turn the company right around. Hell mitsubishi even took the chance and came strait to the consumer via a forum I frequent. They came and asked us Montero owneres how muc hwe liked they and a whole bunch of questions. They even got a couple of the guys together and did a little 4x4 run with them and video interviewed a couple. Then they got together a mitsubishi owner awareness weekend at their Cali HQ and had hundreds of people express their oppinions. Not to mention mitsubishi are strong, capable, reliable, and well taken care of vehicles. Ive also seen some of their older engings hit 300k miles with only basic maintainence. look at the lancer, mirage, and such Also check out Hyundai. Very inexpensive but extremely good cars. Most have a decent amount of power and great fuel economy. |
Chevy Geo Metro, fuel efficient, small, good enough.

With my experience, I don't think you should fork up the money now for an $18,000 car. It just won't help you in the long run. My uncle never bought a new car until he was 40 years old. He saved up his money and then did some investing. Now he owns a million bucks.
Actually, in my opinion go for a civic. I don't care what these idiots say...they're not bad cars. Just don't put any decals on them and you'll be fine. My friend owns a civic and it's not a bad car to drive around. It's been in their family for a pretty long time so that shows the life of the civic. |
how much will you lay down? im going to buy a 3 series or m3 in the 10,000-13,000 dollar range but you need to lay some money down so youre not paying a shitload in interest
Attempting to buy a 2001 z24 Cavalier right now. Go for any 2000 + cavalier, prices are at a all time low due to the cobalts luanch. I would reccomend a 2000 + model in order to obtain a ecotec engine in your purchased vehicle. very great "regular" go around cars, not to mention up to 600km on a tank of gas.
5000 to 7000 $ depending on km, model etc. Uusally 5k for a 2000 with 80 000km on it fully loaded. |
you could always go for a used audi, the quattro is great for winter driving, or a subaru
[quote="Old Reliable":e3b87]you could always go for a used audi, the quattro is great for winter driving, or a subaru[/quote:e3b87]yep, i drive a '92 Subaru Legacy and it's still going strong. I never had any extra work done on the car. I laugh at people during the winter when they get stuck going up hills while I easily make it.
haha exactly, when i get my bmw i will have to keep my saturn cause i know bimmers arent winter cars
Bimmers own, I owned to own a '94 328i and it was a very fun car to drive around in. I'm thinking of dropping $5,000 for down payment, so I think that should be enough to not get ripped off by the finance.
mazda 3.
or go to http://www.autotrader.ca . some people are desperate to sell so you can get a deal. |
how much did u pay for that 328i, nice car
There's a green car with black racing stripes down the street from me that's been on the market for over two years. If you want that I'm sure they'll cut you a deal.
Ok, here's my advise....
Go ahead and lease the "Hybrid Civic". GREAT on fuel economy and it's under $20k http://automobiles.honda.com/models/mod ... vic+Hybrid |
subaru ... if you want a car that gets around good in snow and ice theres no need to look any further
audi too

I got it about 4 years back for $17,500. It's got electric everything, leather seats, CD changer, and it only had around 120,000km on it. |
canadian dollars thats an average price, nice car
Pontiac Grand Am
