100 Scariest Movie Moments
the list is on the page if you plan to watch
http://www.bravotv.com/The_100_Scariest_Movie_Moments/ i watched this thing last night on bravo ... it was awesome listening to all the different directors and film critics discussing each film ... i was pretty unhappy with the top 2 ffs. i dont think i would even consider them horror. ... |
Saw it last year when it came out.
|
74. Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory oOo:

86. Wizard of Oz ...wtf. pretty strange list if you ask me ...i was glad to see stephen king fill several of the slots ... |
Well its obviously not "all time" but "for the time" as in, when those movies came out. Sure, Jaws was extremely scary back then, but now... ehh... not so much, same with Willy Wonka and THe Wizard of Oz, scary then, not really now. I'd like to see an "all time" list.
|
Funny, but before i even looked at the list, i picked "Alien" as being the # 1 scariest movie. It wasn't so much scary as it was suspenseful. Fucking movie made me jump quite a few times when i first saw it.
|
'the ring' and 'the grudge' scared me quite a bit for newer movies ... almost on the same level as being 12 watching 'the omen' or 'the amityville horror', which btw didnt even make the list ... it was by far one of the creepiest movies i watched as a kid....
one they the talked about that looked pretty scary was audtion : http://imdb.com/title/tt0295867/ anyone seen this one ? |
I saw it and I love it.
Most of the movie a romance story... Boring stuff if you're looking for a horror movie... Then it drastically changes into the deliciously disgusting torture scene. First time I saw it, I wanted to throw up. Now I get off to it. Heh... Alliteration. |
I am a really big Wes Craven fan, imho he does horror better than John Carpenter...Stephen King is also a good writer, but i like his books over his movies.
|
ya i saw audition it was pretty nuts not SCARY just ummmmmm dont know how to explain it really all i know is the end of the movie is GENIOUSLY BIZARRE i think thats good for it. Takeshi Miike which is the director of that movie is a genious in my opinion when it comes to making movies here are some of his titles if you wish to look for some
Ichi the Killer-best movie ive ever seen in my opinion Gozu Dead or Alive- Most unexpected ending to a movie (Thiers 2 more of these dead or alive movies also) Visitor Q Full Metal Yakuza Thier about 40 movies/tv shows he has check out Takeshi Miike on google or something to find em |
some of those are bullshit, half of them are based on profits not scaryness' oOo:
THE FUCKING DEAD ZONE IS ON THAT LIST. oOo: oOo: |
Vistitor Q is beyond fucked up.
|
thats why i like his movies cause they are FUCKED up.
|
I still haven't seen Ichi, but I know your avatar is him.
Maybe I'll see if I can find it tomorrow. |
Ya its from ichi but not ichi himself. When you look for it try and get it Uncut cause in the cut version they cut out sooooo much but if you can only find it cut then its still worth watching. Its a great movie.

81. The Land Before Time IV
(I wonder how many of you will go back and look for this before you realize I'm bullshiting you.) EASTER EGG |

Aliens wasnt really scary, it was just intense. Yea, Im glad to see alien 1 made it to number 2, the air duct scene was about the scariest single scene ever shot. Jaws, when you think about it, really does deserve the 1 spot.It scares you long after you see the movie, keeping you out of the ocean, or at least scares you when ur in the water
|
what a piece of shit list...
hake: |
you have to realize the fucking impact of some of these movies. Yea the grudge and ring are more recent and have great effects
But at the time 1975 for jaws(holy fuck 30 years ago) That movie looks cheesy now, but in 1975 it made people not visit the beach. people were afraid to go into the ocean, because its a reality that a shark may eat their ass. It had an actually human fear factor in it. You can watch tv and not die in 7 days like the ring. Those movies may scare you at the time, but dont have an emotional impact. How many people went screaming out of the water because a little ass minnow brushed your leg after jaws came out. |
haha yea makes u wonder "whats down there"
alien, aliens etc were always good. 28 days later should'eve been higher tho. signs was pretty scary. |
Some of them shouldnt be on the list but some I do agree with...
2. Alien 5. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 6. Shining rock: 16. The Omen 17. A Nightmare on Elm Street 20. The Ring 26. Seven rock: 34. The Hitcher 48. The Thing rock: although i would have rearranged most of them. All of these should have been near the top. They missed quite a few out of the list. And added some rather crap films. God bambie is almost as scary as jurassic park oOo: |
Okie WTF?
31. Friday the 13th |
When I was younger, I thought Pet Semmatary was really scary/creepy. oOo:
|
Sixth Sense scared the living piss out of me when I first saw it at the theatre.....Dead people/ghosts/demons scare the crap out of me more than any monster/alien/rabid dog/death robot/dinosaur/killer shark can....

It's more of a comedy than a horror movie. |
The Blair Witch Project scares me, I never watched it when it came out so the buzz wore off but I bought the dvd recently, saw it for the 1st time, alone, in the dark, volume up (like how creepy films are meant to be watched) and was pretty freaked.
It affected me as i used to go camping all the time, like every other weekend, or with the scouts or at school, etc, i love camping........the docu-film was just shot perfectly, it makes your brain work overtime. I also think Texas chainsaw massacre is creepy because that kind of thing can and does happen, i hate rednecks......especially ones who keep their dead parents in the attic and weild axes around the house.. Also the modern colour version of Night of the Living Dead deserves a mention too, eeek The Dark Crystal fucked me up when i was young too, had nightmares about that shit, weeeeeeeeird but great. I never liked elves, pixies and goblins, they freaked me out when i was young.. The scariest films are the psychological ones. |
Thirteen Ghosts was a fucking embarrasment. I can't believe it was supposed to make people scared.... oOo:

Thirteen Ghosts was more of a gore fest than geniounly scary, it was pretty cool when the lawyer was cut in half, and the one chick was crushed |
lawyer in half was good, its just that ghosts always freak me out. the plot wsa pretty good...like i said, first time i saw it, i was scared...SciFi showed it a few days ago, and i was like...meh.

Jaws deserves to be number 1, it has had such an influence on the populace that even today, thirty years later, people are afraid of the ocean. The reason it was so scary is because it showcases one of mankinds true fears, getting eaten alive. The protagonists in the movie are faced with an animal that has no remorse and no fear, and yet they have to confront it in it's own environment where it has the distinct advantage. Watching it for the first time made you feel for the characters every time they were near the water. They don't know what's in the water, and neather do we when we go swimming in a lake or in the ocean. It's the sense of not being able to control our environment.
It is a movie yes, but the events that take place are based in reality. No other movie has had that type of influence, which is why it deserves to be number 1. |
There's an obscure scene in The Exorcist III that I still say is the scene that scared the shit out of me the worst.
Click on the first pic in the second row or the last pic in the whole series for a screenie of the scene: http://www.geocities.com/thehorrorhaven/exor3pic.html From "Wikipedia" (couldn't have said it better myself): "There is a prolonged, wide-angle shot of a corridor whilst a nurse goes about her rounds. After several minutes of uneventful silence, there is a false alarm when a harmless patient abruptly wakes up and scares the nurse. Silence then reigns once again and the nurse checks the other patients. A security guard who sits in the corridor is summoned by someone and leaves, falsely suggesting to the viewer that events will follow him. Instead, the camera remains fixed down the corridor as the nurse goes through the motions of checking her charges are all okay. The scene has by now lasted several minutes. Just as the viewer is probably getting bored, the camera shot zooms in on the unsuspecting nurse crossing the corridor whilst a mysterious figure - draped in a blanket and holding out a pair of amputation sheers - strides after her, ready to slice off her head. Immediately, the film jumps the following morning when a morose Kinderman is being informed that the unfortunate nurse has been found dead. She was decapitated, slit open, her intestines torn out and then her body stuffed with Rosary Beads." Honest to God, just thinking about that scene gives me goosebumps. ed: |

Spider walk in the first one scared the shit out of me, but for some reason I was laughing out loud at "FUCK ME JESUS" with the crucifix, and "YOUR MOTHER SUCKS COCKS IN HELL," that was simply....Unbeatable. Stephen King's 'It,' probably fucked with me the most out of any film I remember as a child. I was scared to hell and back after that.... |
You though Thirteen Ghosts was a joke? Watch Ghost Ship.
wallbash: I've only seen a few horrors and I hated all of them. |
