EB Games ...
So yesterday I went into the local EB Games, with $23, as I just wanted something to tie me over for a couple weeks, atleast, until I take my trip down to Mexico. I had Freedom Fighters, Simpsons Hit & Run, Vietcong,Rise of Nations, and a couple other games in mind..but whatever....
I was going through they're PC games, and almost every single game over 4 months old was battered, beaten, and taped. Wtf is going on? Do they regularly use the games as punching bags? I guy asked if I had any questions, and I asked if they were used, he said no... what happened there? I finally decide, and bring up my incredibly battered copy of Vietcong. I remember the last time I went in to a EB, and I gave them the empty game, which the guy then went into a closet, and pulled out a new shrink wrapped copy (it was a GBA game, btw, while I still had one) which was in tip-top shape, and seemed fresh from the Vietnamese sweatshops. It was perfect. So I expected him to do the same here... ...instead, he nearly rips open the box (he said oops! almost sarcastically), tearing off the "lid" a 1/6 of the way, took the CD case out, took the CD's out, then took out some envelopes, put the CD's in the envelopes, then put the CD-case less enveloped CD's back into the box, taped my box three times making it look even more like a piece of crap, then handed it to me, before announcing "21.61". Wtf? I asked him why I didnt get the CD case, and he almost routinely went "Uh...well...some companies dont package their games...it's kinda wierd." So I go "but there was packaging right there" and he replies "Yeah." I didnt know what to say, truthfully. I feel like a moron, cause I just left after taking my reciept and game. So whats the deal? Anyone here once work at EB Games? Why were all the games beaten up so, and why didnt he give me my case? Any Vietcong owners here? Did the game even come with a case?...am I wrong? I dunno, just struck me so strange, I mean, what was the guy gonna do with that case, recycle it along with all the other junk games he has in the back, beaten, taped, and wet on until they resembled not much more than..christ, I dunno. Im going GameStop from now on. |
I dunno wtf kind of EB you go to. The one at my mall is in tip-top quality.

only thing I know is that, any games that are on teh shelves and not behind the counter where the clerks works in put into some little plastic baggy with the instruction booklet because of shop lifter, so when you buy it they gotta take fucking forever to find your game.

If you didn't feel comfortable with what was going on, just fucking leave. If you're paying good money, don't let some douche bag tear your shit up and rifle through it. annoy:

I'd have told him to fuck off and walked out with my money. I'd have at least expected to be given a case with any game i bought.
|
I haven't bought a game from a shop in years, I buy online. ON-LI-NE!

Think'll I give them a call tomorrow...going out of town today, in a couple of hours (Boulder, COLORAADOOOOO)
Well, there happens to be three EB's around the Denver area, two in Denver, one in the burb's, Aurora, which is the one I happened to go to. It was trashy, and was filled with kids trying to by Grand Theft Auto and Dead or Alive, only to be refused to, and to waste their time, spending hours playing their Xbox. The other two I've been to have been just fine. I've always found GameStops to be more neat and friendlier than EB's though. |
really depends on where you go. some stores have complete tater tots working there. they were probably bought and then returned. stores like that re wrap games all the time. kids go in there and sneeze on them, drop them, step on them, and you have some mook pick up the game and hold it in his arms for 45 minutes before he finally decides not to buy it. i only go to EB for used games and sometimes they have pre release stuff, but thats about it.

that wasn't a real ebgames...it was a scam.
all those games musta fell off the truck. |
