Contacts
As prolly most of you know I wear glasses, and have done for pretty much all my life. Up to now i have had my glasses paid for, as I have been in education, but have to pay for them myself now I have left college/education.
This is mainly for the people that wear/ have worn them, I am looking into getting some contact lenses, but have never tried them before, What do they actually feel like when they are in? Can you actually feel them all the time? Any dangers of having them in? They work out at about £1 a day which im willing to pay, but dont want something that'll irritate my eyes. |
You feel them at first but the feeling goes away fast. With the newer types they have the feel almost refreshing. As long as you take good care of your eyes and soke them everynight you shouldn't have a problem.

Which are the best? Throwaway contacts or monthly ones?
|
I got them recently. I havent had any problems with them yet, cant feel them when they're in at all. They say to only wear them 12 hours at the most, I was doing 16 hours straight my second day of having them, I guess it depends on how sensitive your eyes are though.

I have both contacts and glasses, but never wear my contacts anymore, here are some pro's and cons I can come up with.
And for the throw aways or the 2 week/1 month ones, you can use them longer than that. I had the ones where you throw them away after 1 week, and I used them for about 1-2 months before I tossed them out. Everyone I know with contact does the same thing. Pro: -dont have to wear glasses -you can wear sunglasses Cons: -cleaning them (but there is the solution that lets you just place them in without cleaning them) -you cant go anywhere over night without your stuff to clean them and take them out. (if you drink, then this will be a big problem because waking up in the morning with your contacts in is hell!!!!) -if you rub your eyes too hard the contact will come out. (this has happen to me so many times) |
i really have no problems with my contact lenses. They are so comfortable that I don't even feel them in. I really shouldn't do it, but I sleep with them in biggrin: . People ask me, "DON'T THEY HURT WHEN YOU WAKE UP? AREN'T THEY STUCK TO YOUR EYES!?!?". Well, no. They don't stick; all I do is blink a few times and I feel great.
I like them alot better than glasses because everywhere you look, it's clear. When you first put them in you'll be amazed. You can play sports and stuff and don't have to worry about glasses breaking/falling off. The only thing i don't recomend with them is swimming...even though I do that as well ha. Some people lose the lense real easily in the water. Again, I'm really lucky and don't have any problems with them at all. |
I know what you mean with the whole sleeping in them thing. I was real skeptical at first. You wake up and they do feel like hell but just blink a bit and it goes away. However, I only do that when I have no way of taking them out.

I have bi-weekly contacts that I haven't taken out in like 3 months.

glasses > contacts
If i wanted sunglasses id just do what Toni did and buy the oakley frames and get the lenses put in them. Some people think you look better without glasses and some think you look better without glasses on, but so many bitches have different opinions, can't please em all. |
aww the join of getting something caught under a contact lense

I've got the 1-day disposables and I love them to death. I've been wearing contacts for about 15 years and can't stand to wear glasses anymore.
What people have said is true. If you take care of your lenses you can strectch their intended life to about double. With the 1-day disposables, I routinely wear them two days with an overnight soak in no-rub solution. The best part though, is if they start bugging me, I just pop them out and chuck 'em. I always carry several extra pairs in my luggage, bookbag, etc. These are a little more expensive, but in my opinion they are worth it because you always have the option to just throw them out when you're drunk and lazy. And....nothing beats the feel of a fresh pair of lenses. |

Far out, I had no idea how many people around here used glasses/contacts.....

Lately I have been unable to read text that is about 2 - 3 inches in height, from about 15-20 feet. Usually, I am able to. I think it's because I stare at the sun.

10 years for me.
I started out with monthly that you had to take out every night. If you sleep in them, they stick to your eyes and it hurts like a mother fucker. 2nd most painful experience with my eyes. The first was welders flash. Now I know why welders wear a mask. UV fucks your eyes up. Anyway, i moved to night and day lenses about a year ago. I can leave these lenses in for a month without taking them out at all. their great. i have had a couple times where i had an infection. the doc says that its not enough oxygen to the eye. so even if you get ones that you can sleep in, you may want to take them out every once in a while to rest your eyes. you'll feel them a lot at first. they'll feel pretty shitty, but after a while, you'll get used to them. then you can't feel them at all. |
Contacts > Glasses by far. Had them in for about a year, had glasses for a few years before that
