Band Website
My friend has recently joined a forming band, I have offered to create a website for him but am stuck for ideas on how band websites look. I've been toying with designes on paper but none of my designs actually look like what you'd expect for a band website.
I dont know whether to go for simplicity or a more complex looking site. I was toying with the idea of having the sites template in the shape of a guitar and work the website around that. this is something i just drew up. its poor quality but you get the idea of how it will be laid out. I'm abit concerned about the space on the left so thought about having a design on the guitar (to personalise it abit and to fill the space) but am stuck for ideas on what to draw as the guitars design. any pointers? i was maybe thinking lightning or something. |

That looks pretty leet. Like the way its black and white.

You picked any colours yet? That's a good place to start. On something like a website it's best to try and keep the main parts of the site limited to no more than 3 dominating colours.

Ok, i'm having some problems, this is just a try at getting it to look "right". I'll be changing the design of the guitar, one i have more experience.
The table is fucked with the content in: This was what I was seeing in Firefox, the tables in Dreamweaver looked perfect and the source code looked fine. I then viewed the page in IE and found the tables were ok. Take a look for yourself http://www.mikeanthony.co.uk/band/index.htm view it in firefox and IE and you will see it in more detail. Any ideas as to why this is happening? This is the rar to my files if you want to look closer at them: http://www.mikeanthony.co.uk/band/web.rar Any help would be appreciated. |
kinda off the subject but wtf are stagweekends?
Also, i dont like how the end of the guitar is cut off, perhaps try messing with it and see how it looks with the end on? |
I'll be completely changing teh guitar look later on. I'm just messing around at hte moment.
Stagweekend is the host's advertisement. I dont use enought bandwidth to need to pay for a webhost |
anyone got any ideas on how to resolve this problem, and any pointers would be appreciated towards the sites layout/ guitar etc?

That looks like fun to make. I can give you some high res pictures of my guitar if you need some... I think, I'd need to find my camera.

awesome rock: +1 mang, Just for future reference: [code:6998e].MenuCell { border: 1px solid #3B372E; text-align: center; height: 22px; padding: 0px; } .ContentCell { border: 1px solid #3B372E; text-align: left; padding: 0px; } [/code:6998e] This is a section of the edited stylesheet, im guess this is what makes it look right? Along with changing the cells to: cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" |
Yes. The stylesheet controls how the table cells function. I pulled out all of the attributes in the <table> and <td> tags and set them to run in the stylesheet. The cellspacing/padding are a little funny in CSS, so keeping them in the primary tag is OK.
Basically, if you're going to design in CSS, make sure you keep it all in CSS. Or, keep all of your design and style elements in the HTML. Things will run very neatly if you do either on it's own, but mixing the two is trouble. |
Also, if you want to remove the thick border from the bottom of the menu cell, put this in the .MenuCell style:
[code:9454d]border-bottom: 0px;[/code:9454d] |
oheers for that mate.

I think you should just get a picture of a guitar, and with each string, when you hover over it it names what the string is (6th string is News, 5th string is Community, 1st string is About Us, so on) and include the knobs and tuners (if you somehow fit them in) as just extras, like photos and stuff.
I like your idea, but its just too wierd having a big box in the middle of a guitaro. |
^ nice idea. I will be adding strings, just I havent had time last couple of days to play with it much. I'll have to try looking into it this week.

looks like mspaint oOo:
|
Hey, thanks for the idea. I made something like that for my friends band.
http://blackwatermods.com/lucid2 I was going to try and do what you were doing but the middle of the guitar is too cluttered. |
