New Orleans

Good luck and God bless. They are going to be owned by hurricane Katrina. Put it on CNN, and check it out. Could be the largest hurricane ever. Category 5. Could submerge New Orleans in 10-15 feet of water.

Zoner 08-28-2005 06:56 PM

Kinda makes the tragically Hip song a little creepy.

Hopefully the damage is not as catastrophic as forecasted.

Judas is pissed cause hes gonna get rocked in tennesee from it.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-28-2005 08:32 PM

What time is it supposed to hit?If its as bad as they predicted, holy sh** ed:

tomxtr 08-28-2005 08:34 PM

I've got a bad feeling about this. Considering NO is under sea level as it is and is surrounded on all sides by water, this could be disasterous. CNN has an interesting piece from the NO emergency management guy spelling out the doomsday scenario. Looks like this is the big one he described.

I hope I'm wrong.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-28-2005 08:37 PM

How much force would it take to knock down the super dome?would this hurricane be capable?since there using it as a pretty big shelter.

I just had supper with some folks that came up to stay with a neighbor. They live right next to one of the levies in NOLA. They were talking about a scenario that the local news was giving that if the storm hits just right it will flood the city and that it could take six months to pump it dry. For those that don't know New Orleans is in a bowl and the city has pumping stations all around that have to pump water out even when it rains hard.

BTW - i just saw on the Weather Channel - Last year's biggest storm (Charlie) was a Category 4 and the storm center (the part of the storm that has hurricane force winds) was 45 miles across. Katrina is a Cartegory 5, the winds are stronger, and it is 205 miles across in the storm center!!! HOLY MOLY!! Plus it's forward movement is real slow so it is just gonna hang around and beat everything to death for alot longer than the storms we had last year.

*edit* these guys from NOLA said the Superdome roof is designed for 130 mph winds - Katrina is 165 mph +

If the roof was blown off that could be absolutely horrific. If you go to cnn.com, they have the worst case scenario video, its pretty bad(won't let me get a link. rolleyes: )

Paintballr 08-28-2005 08:52 PM

Well the panthers might have to play NO twice in carolina if the superdome is gone

Doctor Duffy 08-28-2005 09:04 PM

Christ man, not only that, they're deep below sea level. Deep.

Forte 08-28-2005 09:56 PM

I have a couple of friends that live down there. hope they are cleared out by now. Katrina is my ex girlfriends name... im gonna go mess with that tomorrow.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-28-2005 09:59 PM

wouldn't it be wierd if New Orleans was completely destroyed? All the history, entertainment, everythhing... gone. That would be ridiculous.

Coleman 08-28-2005 10:10 PM

good luck NO

Short Hand 08-28-2005 10:17 PM

Well they cant come back to charlotte thank god that owner was a ass.

Milla 08-29-2005 12:53 AM

There are like about 100,000 something ppl still left in the city, they closed the causeways out of the city, so basically the rest of the people are stuck stranded....god be with them, thats for sure. This city is probably gonna be demolished.

Mr.Buttocks 08-29-2005 06:45 AM

GTFO!

Chronic Diarrhea 08-29-2005 06:52 AM

Some good news is the hurricane weakened overnight before it hit land this morning. Winds went from 165-175, which is catastrophic, to about 140 or a little less, which is about how strong Ivan was last year when it hit landfall. Needless to say the elevation in NO is still going to cause a problem, but most people doubt it's going to be near as bad as predicted. Ivan, Dennis, and now Katrina all weakened before they hit landfall, so gg.

tomxtr 08-29-2005 08:04 AM

CNN is reporting that the roof of the Superdome is getting torn up and people can see daylight through it. Sounds like bad news considering the worst is a couple of hours away.

Just a bad choice of setting up your life in an area that is known to be effected by these things.

Hopefully they pull it out ok.

Art Attack 08-29-2005 11:44 AM

Just was watching CNN,The Superdome roof was being ripped apart like nothing, crazy!

I only saw one large hole, not bigger than a couple feet. The dome's roof should hold up to over 200mph winds i heard.

Art Attack 08-29-2005 12:10 PM

From the picture I saw, it looked like a good peice got ripped off.
