It's been confirmed: Hurricane Wilma, with a pressure of 882 mb, is the most intense hurricane on record in the Atlantic Basin. Wilma, after undergoing a stunning intensifcation overnight, is now a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane packing sustained winds of 175 mph. The eye of the violent storm is now following a wobbling WNW track through the western Caribbean with a turn toward the NW expected within the next 24 hours.

Fluctuations in intensity are likely, but Wilma is forecast to remain an extremely dangerous Category 5 hurricane through Thursday. The projected track of the storm takes it through the Yucatan Channel into the extreme southern Gulf of Mexico Friday night. After that, Wilma is expected to come under the influence of westerly winds aloft blowing across the Gulf. That should hurl the hurricane toward the Florida Peninsula, probably the southern part of the peninsula, this weekend. Wilma is expected to be weakening by then, but weakening is a relative term and Wilma may still be a major hurricane (winds over 110 mph) when it makes landfall.

You'd think where I live (In a Bi-coastal cisty) that we'd have a huge worry with Tsunamis/storms/hurricanes etc....But we have The Great Barrier Island in a strategic position, which totally blocks our city. OWNAGE.

pssh this thing blew anus. The fucking media, not just here but major media, blew this thing WAY out of control. It was barely a cat three and lost alot of steam when it hit land. It was stupid because they closed the bridges here and I was supposed to go to a party in Fort Myers but couldn't because of these retards.

I went to sleep with it ready to hit and the winds sorta picking up. I woke up and the fucking thing is already done and on the east coast of Florida! I still have all power, water and cable. The power flucuated a little at night but nothing too bad. Apparently we got hit with like 75mph winds with gust of 100. All I know is it's gonna be like 70 this afternoon with the winds dying down , so I'm gonna see what I can fish.

2 Million people are without power and apparently Naples and a few other places got hammered along with the Keys.

yeah Naples people are out of power apparently. The Keys has always been subject to flooding so it doesn't surprise me they're out of power. In my town, Cape Coral, there's a gay ass curfew from 9pm to 6am and no sale of alcahol...wtf. I've got cabin fever from sitting here for two days with no beer. There's like no real damage in my town except for like minor shit of few tree's down and some tore off shingles.

Luckily for people without power we got hit with a cold front when this cane passed and it's wonderfull outside. We also have REALLY good power companies and they're getting power up quickly from what I hear. I count myself lucky that we had no major dmg, except for this little tree in the front yard.

This hurricane was actually very minor considering this is my like 12th hurricane I've been in. Charlie last year was a bitch but this year Wilma was a bit weaker and not as severe.
