Water cooling my PC

Im thinking about water cooling my PC, any here have a water cooled PC? or know of any good water cooling kits?

I would never do it, ti just doesnt make sense. Water and electronics do not mix. I cant afford an entire new comp is one seal or clamp fails

i've urinated on a computer's insides as it was running and nothing went wrong. i know people that have submerged their whole pc internals into some sort of hydrolic lubricant.

i was thinking of watercooling my pc but there's no real advantage unless you're either doing some serious overclocking, or looking for a quiet pc. i'm not sure on what's good out there at the moment, but when i was looking into it swiftech and dangerden seem to have some good setups and a good reputation. any further info can be found here http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=759705 .
some swiftech kits http://www.frozencpu.com/scan/MM=f5a1a3 ... ge=results (i suggest getting your video card on the watercooling system as well)

Id make my own set up with a heater core out of a car and then strap a fan on it.

urinating on your compsuters insides is asking for trouble, you got VERY lucky if you really did. The only thing that you can submerge electronics in is totaly non-conductive liquids.. that includes PURE de-ionized water and some oils.

koolance watercooling system is pretty good, im using a hydrocool 200ex at the minute.

pfaust60 10-25-2005 04:27 PM

water cooling system is stupid. the water might leak and something might go wrong.
it can help me, since my pc is cooled by 4 fans wich makes it sound like
a vacuum cleaner oOo:

I got to use my uncles computer to play BF2 this past weekend. He's put about 2 grand into the thing including a very nice watercooling system. Dont know whats its called but it looks like it would take a ver sharp knife to make it leak. The only reason he had the water coolign was because he had a seriously overclocked everything.

Stammer 10-25-2005 05:44 PM

geRV were do you get the money from to have all that stuff?

Akuma 10-25-2005 05:48 PM

That Vantec watercooling thing isn't that great. It's silent so only performs the same as good air cooling.

Go with something from Swiftech or Danger Den.

Drugs and sex.

Proteus 10-25-2005 05:50 PM

You're lucky you have a comp good enough to consider air cooling.

I'm also thinking "what if this thing fails and leaks?". I don't care how well something is designed.....if it has liquid in it, then it has the potential for leakage.

And the argument for fan noise? How loud are some of your systems? When i'm on the computer, 2 things are always happening.

1. I'm playing music and pretty loud also
2. I'm gaming.....again, pretty loud

so, i really never hear the fans other than on start-up and shut down.

1080jibber 10-26-2005 02:34 AM

I was looking to overclock my PC a little bit (maybe alot happy: ) plus I think it would be fun to do.

I hope by the end of the week I will know what im getting

Akuma 10-26-2005 05:48 AM

The chance of getting a leak is extremely low if you set it up right and do proper leak testing.

But if you are still worried, you can grab some MCT-5. It's a nonconductive fluid made by Danger Den. Here's a review: http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=363

Water-cooling used to be only for the "extreme" tweekers / overclockers but it's becoming more mainstream as evidenced by all of the prominent heatsink manufacturers starter kits. Like Akuma said if you do it right you shouldn't have to worry about leaks. However, since it is a more "enthusiast" method of cooling your PC it's still a possibility. Most people water-cool for 2 reasons (or a combo of both):
1. Cooling. Depending on your setup you can pretty close to ambient temperature on your CPU.

2. Quiet. If that’s your goal then you can stay at or around the temps of air cooling but do it much quieter.

I've used Koolance, Swiftech, Dangerden, and Innovetek kits / parts before. I've only had 2 leaks and one was my own fault. I didn't use the fan mounting screws that came with a swiftech kit but used some of my own and accidentally punctured a fin on the radiator. This was also my first attempt at water-cooling so I didn't bother testing it out of the case before hand and it leaked all over my precious parts. I got lucky and it didn't fry anything. The other was a video card cooler by Aquagate which was bad out of the box; I did test it before I put it in my system though.

It's kind of a hobby for most folks that do it so if you're not willing to put some time into it you might want to reconsider. Do some research first. Take a look at some of these threads for ideas / suggestions:

My suggestion would be a swiftech kit as you get the best of both worlds in regards to quite and cooling. Something like this one:

If you've got some questions about setup etc let me know I'd be glad to help.

EDIT* just realized your in Canada so I'm not familiar with retailers up there at all. From the site you mentioned I would go with the Corsair kit as opposed to the Zalman kit. The Corsair for the most part is just a re-badged Swiftech anyways. Here's the link:

Here's a review of the kit:
