New Camera suggestions.
Thinking about getting a new digital camera. going for the 500 - 700 dollar range. I would like simple point and shoot, with a really high megapixel.
found this one at Wolf Camera. [url:5473f]http://www.wolfcamera.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10001&langI d=-1&productId=13324308&bct=t1003%3Bc1009[/url:5473f] anyone else have some good suggestions. |
if you just want a point and shoot camera, why do you care if it's 5+? If you're not going to blow it up for a large picture, then 5mp will be more than enough.
|
700 range you might be able to get a dig slr ( not sure ) , i would totally get instead of point and shoot if you could find one in that range.
anti would be the best person to talk to i think. |
I have a Canon A95 5 megapixel camera. I really like it. I think it was $450 CDN or something.
Good shizzz right there. |
high megapixel count with a crappy lense will just give you crappy high-res photos. Lense is VERY important

My bro got a camera for something about that price. I think this was it http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/contro ... elid=11154 Although that looks slighly different.
Here is a pic of his |
Canon G6 is probably the best point and shoot you can get... 7.1mp
But at that much I would go dslr. You could get a Nikon D50 for the same price. |
hmmm I may look into DSLr's then.

that might rack up the bill a bit. most high quality lenses are fairly expensive. when i bought my d70 body i was thinking of doing the same - but i thought it would be more beneficial to just get one higher quality lens that will work for basic shooting (25-70).
|
I wonder if the lenses I currently have will fit it... how can I check? I have a macro lense and a regular one for shotting med - long shots.
|
If they aren't Nikon lenses, they won't fit. I'm not even sure if Nikon SLR lenses fit Nikon DSLR cameras.

I never said it would be wise to do it, but it is possible to use your old glass.
PS: I REALLY want that new 18-200mm AF- S VRII lense... *drool* I'm also thinking of selling my D70s to a friend and getting the new D200 when it comes out. Lot's of new features and a great price, but the thing I like the most is the weather proofing! |
i meant it as a general statement, not directed towards you. I was thinking of doing the same to get the d200, but i'm happy with my d70. I don't need anything more. When xmas rolls around im getting a 70-300 in the ED series, and then a Hoya r72 Infrared filter happy: .

I prefer Nikon over Canon
|
Why would someone like you possibly need a $8000 professional camera...
Forte: I would sell it to but I'm not sure when I'll have $1000 laying around to buy the D200. |

little update.
yeah I decided on the D50. its gonna be the only thing I get for christmas, but im gonna ask for a macro lense for it too. anything else I should get with it? http://www.wolfcamera.com/webapp/wcs/st ... t=%3Bc1009 |
Awesome, congrats. rock:
What are you going to be taking pictures of? |
As others have said - if your talents are Point And Shoot - what the fuck do you need a 600-700 dollar camera for?

my talents go beyond point and shoot. ive been using a camera since I was 5. Ive been using my mom's Nikon on and off. Last time I bought a camera it was about 600-700 bucks. So in the same state of mind I thought thats what point and shoots were still in. Now I see that I can get a good DSLR for that price range. @ Akuma: I plan on doing shots for art, vacation stuff, and most important mapping. Need some really nice quality shots for textures and references. |
Then what do you need macro lenses for? Those are for extremely close up pics.
edit: Just get a decent wide angle (kit lens works) and another with a decent zoom (200mm) |
rofl @teenagers getting 700 dollar cameras
