CPU usage?
Alright when i hit ctrl alt dlt. And i click on the performance tab, why in the fuck is my CPU usage at 100% when i have nothing really running? I mean my performance inst slow, but it says 100% cpu usage well like 85%-100% wtf is up
|
click on the processes tab and take a screenshot of what processes are hogging up the CPU usage
|
I mean nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing big enough to be taking up 100% CPU usage
WTF explorer.exe is fucking using up my cpu usage for some reason. Its just fluxuating (cant spell nigs) all over the place |
something is leeching cpu usage.. Run some virus and spyware scans.
|
reboot
|
ah I remember when mine did exactly the same thing, was weird so I ran MSCONFIG and disabled ALL startup items/progs and it was running fine again.
Obviously just keep enabling the odd program in the startup list and see which one is causing the CPU to have hard sex. You just have to go through your list and troubleshoot but it should solve the problem freak: |

it happens on my mums pc, but it has never affected her pc's performance. Wouldnt worry about it to be honest. As long as your pc isnt running slower than normal.

Everything on start up is disabled and its still doing the same shit.
|
Start -> Run -> type in: Regedit
Find the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shel lex\PropertyHandler\ directory and delete the "DEFAULT" key ! ... Voila ! ... Explorer.exe runs at 0-1% on idling ! http://computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard ... 18564.html |

I'm new to this forum, but I've had the exact same prob, luckily my explorer.exe usage hovered around 90% rather than 100%. I killed it in the task manager and then launched it again from the managers file menu (new task, just enter 'explorer.exe'). That seems to have done it. Still fixed after a reboot. Hey Presto! Now I'm going to scan for viruses.
how do i do this? |
nvm that didnt work
|

To launch an app click the app tab and click on new task button. |
Well none of that works, atleast im not the only person with this problem and it seems to be very common. Only diffrence from me and these people is my computer is not slow
