check this out, it would be nice if they would show this on PBS instead of putting it in theaters

Jin-Roh 01-06-2006 05:00 PM

Yeah yeah. Esienhower's "Industrial Military Complex" is a nice read.

Tripper 01-06-2006 06:01 PM

Jesus, that looks like an interesting one - I bet thats gonna make a shitload of angry people piss in there pants.

snipes 01-06-2006 09:43 PM

Yeah, looks really interesting.

Torrent spy has 2 up right now, so if you want it act fast before the tracker dies, mine is at 91 %, while the other one died at 61 %

I've talked about this movie before, its being sitting on my hd since novemeber but I advise everyone to watch it..William Kristol the idiot behind Project for the new American century is interviewed explaining his rational and my favorite historian Gwynne Dyer as well.

Also Eugene Jarecki made the trials of henry kissinger which is also well made.

elstatec 01-11-2006 11:58 AM

which one died at 61% short?

as the 'BBC4 Storyville - Why We Fight' one is the one im going for.

Short Hand 01-11-2006 03:06 PM

the 873mb one died, it started up again since I just left it on... but it is dling @ .5kb, THE 691mb version dls @ great speeds, it is the safest bet.

BBC4.Storyville.-.Why.We.Fight.avi 691.11mb = good.

Sgt>Stackem 01-11-2006 03:42 PM

I can see the pro-Michael Moore crowd going to this

Short Hand 01-11-2006 04:50 PM

It has no similarities to a Micheal Moore Documentary in any way shape or form. If you take the time to watch it you would notice that.

I will honestly come out and say this is the best documentary out at the moment. Flat out brilliant.

You're not going to check it out?

If I were a liberal, I'd check out conservatively-stanced docos like this just so I could find fault and argue against it. Vice versa if I were a conservative.

Richard perle is interviewed also John Mccain, along with William Kristol who is a ultra conservative by my standards, its a doc that should be watched by all Americans no matter what your stance is on the political scale and if you have this Michael Moore mindset crap your watching and believing to much rhetoric in the American press..A fair and balanced doc that tells you why America is in Iraq.

elstatec 01-12-2006 09:18 AM

Just saw it.

What Eisenhower said about fears of Military Industrial Complex pretty much sums it up about how it is now.

Imperialism and Capitalism.

Hah

You're probably to bothered that you might end up changing your opinion if you did watch it...

Sgt>Stackem 01-12-2006 02:50 PM

I know its crap. I know he (Michael Moore) twists facts. I know he is an idiot. I have been aware of him for a very long time (he is from Flint, MI) He has been stirring up shit around here for years.

The main reason I will not pay to see it is because your money has power. I have power with my money. If I dont approve of a movie, store, shop, play or whatever I can spent my money elsewhere. The purchase power people have is often overlooked. I will not buy certian things because of where they are made. i will not buy French products, i will not spent tourism money in Canada. (but I will buy Canadian products) I try not to buy Chinese items (its almost impossible though) I have my beliefs and stand by them. You may not agree with them and thats fine. Purchase power is huge, many people dont understand that

Machette 01-12-2006 02:54 PM

Trying to not buy things from China is like a muslim country trying to stop America from invading them.

Well.. if you ever "WATCHED" Moore's first bio.. then you would know it is all about exposing the outsourcing GM did in Flint.. He fought against things like shipping jobs over to China and Mexico.....(BY the way, it was called "Roger & Me") If you had background information or past knowledge, then you would not be contradicting yourself right now. ed:

Was this before or after he started making a joke of the term "documentary"?

Madmartagen 01-12-2006 03:42 PM

well seriously, why are you guys mad at other countries for "taking" our jobs, when its domestic companies that are giving them away? If you were a leader or representative from another country, wouldnt you want a large company investing in your country? dont blame Canada, Mexico and China, blame WalMart, GM and etc.

c312 01-12-2006 03:58 PM

It's just capitalism. Labor is cheaper in other countries because they don't have as many established labor regulations or their economies aren't as good, so logically, the US companies want cheaper workers so they move, and we get lower prices at the price of less jobs. Make it illegal or kick out illegals so there are more domestic jobs, either way, Americans having jobs is priority.

Machette 01-12-2006 04:19 PM

Blame free trade.

Thats pretty ignorant about trying to not buy a product based on where its from.

And where you say " I know he (Michael Moore) twists facts." well heck, ive got a few names I could put in Moores space that would fit that sentence even better; Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield etc etc.

I don't see them deliberately editing video to create something out of something else. You can think Bush lied about WMDs or you can think the intelligence was erroneous, you can't argue about Moore's editing of movies.

IE: The Lockheed Martin plant in Colorado that he said builds missiles and argued that the missile factory spurred violence in the community. The plant makes rockets.

Machette 01-12-2006 06:10 PM

The only film I truly regard as a masterpiece by Moore is Roger and Me.

That's a pretty safe comparison to make seeing as GWB doesn't make alot of films... oOo:

The way GWB conducts his Public Relations is a bit more akin to the way Moore edits his films. It's all about persuasiveness, and both being political they both take it to a sickening degree in order to tug audiences their way.
