Ecological Footprint quiz

Basically a way of measuring the demand that we place on the environment per person...could go in Politics/History but unfortunately not to many people look in there..

http://www.earthday.net/Footprint/index.asp#

The amount of worlds that are needed to fit my life style for everyone else in the world is 4.8

Whatada 01-09-2006 04:42 PM

biggrin:

p.s read "The Clash of Civilizations and the remaking of world order" Simple writing but a really strong message on the future of foreign policy, some say Bush and his buddies took Samuel P. Huntington's [author..also a Harvard prof] message to serious and thats why you guys are in Iraq...thank me later.

Chronic Diarrhea 01-09-2006 04:54 PM

4.7 planets. The flying question completely fucked everything up for me. I live pretty clean compared to most people, but I fly a lot.

Same, just got back from Jamaica which is were my parents live and I visit them once or twice a year and I sometimes go to other places to see aunts and stuff it usually adds up to 20 hours of flight time per year.

Bleuachdu 01-09-2006 04:57 PM

Roger.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if foreign policy was based on the latest Clancy novel.

*edit for a @#^@% misspelling.

Pyro 01-09-2006 04:59 PM

IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.6 PLANETS.

happy:

Huntington wrote the book in 1993, but his message is basically wars won't be fought for power or ideology like in WW2/Korea/Vietnam...it will be based on culture and with the rise of Islam as a dominant religion in the world within the next few decades it will drastically change foreign policy and countries will be split into different civilizations each having a distinct cultural difference..it's kind of hard to explain everything but its really interesting for a foreign affairs book written by a Harvard prof.

You may have to order it online from amazon or something because I know I couldn't find it in my huge bookstore...but it is a new york times bestseller so its not hard to come by online.
