I mean, I'm nothing close to 60, but my dad gave me the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test to read like a year ago, and it's gotta be the only book I've actually enjoyed and read outside of school.

Just wondering if anyone else's read it... read a couple of Keseys too, good books.

I'm gonna put my Furthur sig back up (kurtisy uv lasagna)

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest= untouchable. best book ever.

Seriously man, I read 40 times more magazines than I do books, but I've always like Kesey's.

And On The Road by Kerouac was awesome... I've driven past Cassady's house, and almost landed the chance to go his highschool before moving to the goddamned suburbs.

I enjoy Chuck Palahniuk novels (Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Choke). I highly recommend them.

I also enjoy Hemingway (The Sun Also Rises, For Whom The Bell Tolls), Camus (The Stranger), and Joseph Heller (Catch-22). I've actually started to enjoy reading this year.

I like Hemingway a lot too. I've read a lot of his short stories too because my IB english teacher was like Hemingway's former lover, he is a big authority on Hemingway's life or something like that. We read Camus as well, but it made me angry (although I was only a freshmen so I don't know how I would feel about it if I read it again.)

You should definately read some of Hemingway's short stories too, some of them are really good literature.

Cuckoo's nest was really good, agreed.

wtf The sun also rises was one of the most boring books i have ever read. I just don't like Hemmingways stuff. I respect the man, but i cannot stand his books.

I never read Cuckos nest before, but i have to read it for my Film and Lit. class

I respect most of the authors listed here but I respect Hemingway the most, he did alot with simple words. Old man and the sea, For whom the bell tolls are his best books for me. I have most of his novels as well.

But Heller, Camus are great as well but they don't level with Hemingway's simplicity.

I've read A Clean, Well Lighted Place....The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber, and probably one more....I liked them.

Ever read Siddhartha, by Hesse? Theres a classic

Its The Stranger....but I'm pretty sure it is called The Outsider sometimes cuz it was translated from french.

The translated title changes from place to place. In Europe, its the outsider, (which makes more sense given Meursault's charatcer) and in the US its generally the stranger

Wolfes good, but you swear to god, in this book he's totally buzzed out. He even explains he is in the back pages... he writes so fucking wierd, its crazy. Some sentences last entire pages, and he's always inserting :::lime:::light in mid-sentence, and then types in all caps, and then plays with the text and makes it look like staircases...

My dad said it was like a bible back in the 60's...

that should have told you everything you needed to know

Huh? Whadyya mean? It said a lot of stuff, the book didnt really have a plot, it was just a bunch of guys road-tripping around and taking acid.
