What should i shoot?

Buddy just picked up a new 1911 Colt .45 and wants to meet me at the range in 2 1/2 hours. What should i bring to shoot? My Ruger GP-100 .357, Sig Sauer P-228 9mm, or Sig Sauer P-239 .40 ?

I'll base my decision on the results of the poll. Sorry no ballot for afrodj13. I don't have enough time to find him.

Jakke 02-01-2006 08:40 AM

sauer 9mm happy:

Tystnad 02-01-2006 08:43 AM

9mm. Funniest ammoa round, so go for the P-228

Nyck 02-01-2006 09:07 AM

a fat load

Pyro 02-01-2006 09:10 AM

second one...does it cost money to go to a range?

just go to the boonies if not.

Sgt>Stackem 02-01-2006 09:20 AM

Im biased, go with the .40 rock:

Arkan 02-01-2006 09:32 AM

Yeah Pyro, it cost money to go to the range but it's only like 8 bucks or some shit like that. I'm leaning towards the .40 myself. Gotta hit the store for some ammo.

Chronic Diarrhea 02-01-2006 10:47 AM

Sig P-239 .40. Great handgun.

Milla 02-01-2006 11:09 AM

Yeah man, go wit hthe .40. When i get my USP cmpact im getting it in a .40 S&W

Tripper 02-01-2006 12:41 PM

I say the 9mm, I've got a Ruger SP-101 but I prefer my Beretta 92FS-P for range shooting. Ammo is cheaper than the 40 and it's less taxing on the body to shoot.

Milla 02-01-2006 03:08 PM

Less taxing on the body oOo:

I stil llike the .40 S&W...or a .357 sig over a 9mm. But 9mm is acceptable.

Arkan 02-01-2006 03:16 PM

Thanks for the votes. Shot the .40....had fun. Good day all around.

Too bad they don't have the Nobel prize for being Kickass, because that's what Arkan would receive!

I love Compacts a lot though.

Also what bad ass do you know who uses a 9mm!? lol

Sgt>Stackem 02-01-2006 04:10 PM

9mm are useless unless you use good ammo. This used to be a Detroit but they have moved. http://www.corbon.com/ Some of the best ammo made. It will make your weapon more powerful

strvs 02-01-2006 04:13 PM

I use 9mm as soon as I can. Standard Army issue. biggrin:

Stackem: m/39B is the 9mm ammunition used today. It was delivered in the beginning of 1955. It has a extra ordinary thick jacket that prevents it from deforming easily, and that makes it better in penetrating hard targets. Some examples: It goes through 50 layers of kevlar or 20 cm of wood or 7 cm of brick. The jacket of the projectile also leads to a higher tear and wear on the weapon. Some figures point at up to 25% higher wear on the barrel when using m/39B ammunition compared against normal 9x19 ammunition.

Thats the stuff our army uses, and the Glock was about the only gun that could handle this ammo for a longer period of time without taking too much wear. i.e., the Police here uses the Sig Sauer P-228, and experiments were made with the m/39B. The resulsts was the tha barrel of the P-228 cracked after around 6000 shots, which the army saw as not acceptable for a army sidearm. Hence, they scrapped that idea and went for the Glock instead, since it had proven to be a lot tougher than most guns tested.

End of todays lesson.

Sgt>Stackem 02-02-2006 06:19 AM

compare ANYTHING the army gives you to CorBon ammo, you will be amazed

lol, the thing is that the 39B ammo is made to shoot through engineblocks. I doubt most civilian 9mm ammo can do that.

children. prefrebly ones out on a picnic with their family.

Arkan 02-02-2006 01:22 PM

Also, i should just pass this along to some of you guys who may want to purchase a firearm in the future. Test shoot any gun you're interested in 1st. I see many people buying a gun without ever shooting it only to be disappointed in it once they get it.

My buddy had a Walther .380 and i shot off a magazine full and guess what happened on the very 1st shot? The slide cut my shooting hand when it ejected the spent cartridge. Apparently i have a high grip so i had to re-adjust it after the 1st shot. Something i wouldn't want to do on a daily basis with this firearm. Thats why i have to concentrate while shooting a glock. Natural point with the glock shoots a lil' high for me so i have to cock my wrist a bit to bring it on center.....something i don't have to worry with my Sigs. They have a dead on natural point for me..
