Need a new PC $800.00 MAX.

I've looked on Ebay some look decent but they are like 1.500,My PC right now is a 1.5Ghz with 768 MB,4 years old.

I can only spend 800.00 on a new one,if you guys know any online place with a decent price let me know.It will be for gaming. oOo:

Thank you

Is this Mobo any good ?

ECS PT880PRO-A LGA775 800FSB

gtboys34 04-17-2006 09:42 PM

run a search on google or go to tomshardware and check it. Im sure it's good though

TGB! 04-17-2006 11:02 PM

800 is more than enough to upgrade your comp.

A new CPU isnt going to be more than 200 (if that) for an AMD 64.
New MOBO is going to be about 60 (ECS is a good board - I've used them).
New Graphics card - 200 for a 7600GT.
Ram - 100 max for 1gig.
PSU - 50-60 bucks.

Reuse your case, hard drive, floppy, and possibly even your heatsink (if the CPU doesnt come with one).

Probably have some scratch left over for a snazzy new Monitor too.

I have just used one of their P4 boards and I am very impressed
the onboard ATI GFX run BF2 (low settings of course) and it has sata and raid etc all in all a cool board.

Then would be more then $800.00 oOo:

gtboys34 04-20-2006 06:04 PM

i have a 5500 hundred man, and im gonna get rid of this thing asap. If i wouldve had the money in the beggining (purchase date) i wouldve gotten it then because it would've been a little cheaper then buying one seperate.

Webb 04-20-2006 09:01 PM

I have a half decent card @ home I'm @ work now,I'll post it when I get home.

geRV 04-21-2006 01:27 PM

LAWL fx5500, a voodoo 3 would be competition for that pos. annoy:

TGB! 04-21-2006 03:04 PM

Why are you getting a new system?

hake:

Webb 04-21-2006 03:50 PM

Why ?

Mine is at least 4 years old, right now I'm only playing MoH because it's so slow,I can't playing nothing else.

1.5Ghz
768Mb
oOo:

TGB! 04-21-2006 04:12 PM

As people pointed out - upgrading the individual components is significantly cheaper than upgrading the ENTIRE box.

You need only to upgrade the VID CARD, MEM, MOBO and CPU - I recently did so for 500 bucks and now my system cooks.

You're about to spend a grip of cash to basically move up a few baby steps, instead of take the leap that you need.

Webb 04-22-2006 09:58 AM

I have on my PC right now a Ge Force 6800 128mb, any good ?

Short Hand 04-22-2006 11:06 AM

THE 6800 IS A GREAT CARD MAN.

Short Hand 04-22-2006 11:11 AM

i AM MORE THEN HAPPY WITH MY CURRENT...

-3200 + @ 2.3233GHz OC'ed
-1gb PC 3200
-9800 Pro AiW 410/366 OC'ed
-WD Cavier 7200 RPM 160GB + another 40GB.
-ABIT NF7 S2 series Mobo.

Scores 19000 + 3D 2001 points.. which is not really all that important, but its nice to know.

BUT to put this into perspective Webb, I invested only 300 $ in total to upgrade my comp with trade in's on my old pc133 ram, and 1800 + cpu + mobo. and it would ear a new asshole in your new rig.

Card is fine. I currently have the 6600 GT and it plays games fine. Listen to TGB and upgrade the box. Forget Intel though...go with AMD instead (socket 939). You'll get more bang for your buck. Also, don't forget to upgrade your power supply.

I see but my box is a POS and white I want a black one.I don't mind spending 800.00 plus as long is a good one.Plus I want a second PC for server or something. eek:

Arkan 04-23-2006 09:30 PM

Ok, if thats the case, get a black Antec case with a good power supply. Reuse your CD drives (doesn't matter if they're white because the Antec case has a door) You need to shop for these parts:

Antec case w/good PS
AMD Processor
Socket 939 Mobo
DDR 400 (PC 3200) Memory. (1G minimum)

You can get a Mobo with built in ethernet and sound card to shave some $$$ off from getting those. You'll have one tough decision to make though if you want to keep your video card. Your card is AGP.....newer Mobo's support PCI express now so if you want to upgrade in the future with the same mobo, you'll need to spring for a new PCI express video card. Thats what i would do. I would get a new video card.
That may put you over the $800 mark.

TGB! 04-23-2006 09:45 PM

Dump the video card and get a 7600GT from eVGA. They are only 170 bucks and PCI. Of course there are 939 boards out there that have AGP and PCI-E.
