An Inconvenient Truth
|
more like, "An Inconvenient Exagerration"
|
Die, Al Gore. Die horribly. cuss:
|
Al Gore invented the internet.
|
this is one of those things when people say oh shit and still do it anyways
|
There's merit to it. Exaggerations are usually necessary for people to take action...

Looks intresting. The only thing I have to be pissed about is New Orleans.
I've never seen a situation with the most simple solution, blow up. As most of us went to school, I'm sure we were all raised on knowing alot about our town or land or even state. Now I'm not saying this is common knowledge, but when you live in a place where you see 20-30 foot leveesoutside your door, you tend to ponder as to what these dams/dikes/levees do. Now say you live in a town that was built in a swamp. The town is renowned for being one of the most early engineering snafu's. Now add to the mix that a very large and powerfull storm is coming down on you. This storm is the highest categoried storm they've had in a while, all this goes with the fact that YOU LIVE BELOW FUCKING SEA LEVEL! Instead of sitting there playing grab ass, perhaps you should evacuate or at the very least, prepare for the oncoming storm with your bare essentials... Seeing as I live in Florida I tend to have a general gist as to what to do when a hurricane is coming. The local media and govn't does a good job preparing us. We get readied and they always tell us , as they did in New Orleans, that FEMA and other state and federal agencies can't get into certain areas as soon as a storm passes. So we evacuate or stock up on food,water,medication,etc... Thank god I've been fortunate as to not been directly hit or lose my home. The whole thing that shits my pants of New Orleans was these people had warnings and were told that they should get out or get prepared, and that agencies wouldn't be able to get in there soon as they were hit. Instead these people bitch and complain about how Bush is a Nazi, but when they finally do get some assistance, people start ambushing and shooting them like some 3rd World shitheads. This had absolutely nothing to do with this thread, I love you all in the ass. |

it's not a truth, there are thousands and thousands of scientists who have evidence that says it isn't... so why do the scientists who say it is true get all the publicity and are assumed to be correct? I think there was a thread about this in the Politics forum, maybe I'll just search for it and link to it.

No matter how much u tell people this, its not gonna change anything. Well destroy ourselves before we change.

receiving money from an organization doesn't mean the data is corrupted, it is questionable, certainly, but it doesn't prove anything. Also, it's naive to think that only one side of this argument is receiving money from outside sources and has ulterior motives.

http://www.exxonsecrets.org/html/listorganizations.php
Yes this site is funded by greenpeace, but if you notice each organization is cited so you can check the facts yourself..if your looking at certain think tanks be sure who they are funded by. Hoover institution is heavily funded by exxon and other corporations, further advancing their voice through intellects who give us the message..Like I said c312 be careful what you read..many scientists have spoke out against the bush administration for censoring reports because of harsh language used such as "extinct". I remember watching a 60 minutes interview with the leading climate scientist from NASA and he said his reports were being censored extinsevly.. Giving money doesn't alter a message? wtf? Thats like me saying I'll run a leftist think tank, advancing a peace agenda...then lockheed martin starts funding my organization..do you not think I will change my message in some way? What the hell are you getting out of your education c312...yessh. rolleyes: You still havent proven your point yet. |
it doesn't. If Exxon funds a study, that doesn't automatically mean that it is a lie. Like I said, it makes for suspicion, but it doesn't prove anything.

I think for the most part, "the right" agrees that the earth is getting warmer, but not as much as Al Gore and his followers would like everyone to think. I think the earth is getting warmer, but only by a small amount, just like it has in the past.
|
I consider myself right of center and sure there are politics involved as much as science, but most people recognize that the earth is warmer than it was a century ago.
Temperatures have only been recorded for what, the last 150 years or so. That's nothing compared to the age of the earth. With such a small subset of data, how can anyone predict what our climate will be like in 20+ years. No one can even tell you with 100% certainty if it will rain next week, or what the temperature will be. That's why its difficult for me to get worked up about global warming. I'm probably naive, though. That I know with some degree of certainty. |
if it happens, it wont happen in my lifetime.
|
im with machette and al gore on this one.
|
I disagree that the world is getting warmer, I had to get out the electric blankets the other night it was that chilly...
mind you, the fact that summer is over and it's now autumn may have something 2 do with it. |
I've taken a couple of environment courses this year and found much evidence that supports that it may not be human causes that is making the earth become warmer. Yes, it is becoming warmer. But what are the reasons? MANY scientists have evidence that support both sides. So machette, don't completely shut out the opposing view.

lol. so true happy: +1 |
I'm not sold on global wwarming being a result of human intervention on the planet. It is conceivable to me that it is a cycle.
Even so, I do recgonize temperatures have been rising which in turn create a bit of a sticky situation. There is concern for global warming. It should be taken seriously no matter what is to blame for it happening. Here's a film i'm more interested in though: http://www.freedomtofascism.com/w_high.html |
I remember Roosevelt, one of America's greatest presidents, said in a speech that if corporations were having a say in governmental affairs the state would move to facism. Can't remember were I read or saw that.

ck global warming...we'll be dead before we'll need to give a shit
