it is another way to get in contact with kids besides TV since many gamers are children/teens.

Its a good IM system i'll still use it

Machette 04-26-2006 01:17 PM

Just finished reading a piece in the wall street journal detailing a deal with microsoft with a company called Massive which puts ads in games..guess games are the new medium for consumer products.

WidowMaker555 04-26-2006 01:34 PM

i hope if viacom does buy it, they will improve xfire a lot more

harpua 04-26-2006 01:36 PM

This is unsuprising - and was bound to happen given XFIRE's prominence in online gaming circles. The same thing happened with ASE and its buyout by YAHOO. XFIRE came along as an alternative to ASE - it gets huge because its not connected to "the man" - then it gets bought out by VIACOM.

Machette 04-26-2006 07:23 PM

Considering what they invest it, I would never suspect such a move..that's why I was struck with suprise when I read this.

that doesnt make them a monopoly - just a powerful company with deep fucking pockets. . .their company profile probably looks similar to Warners, NBC-Universals, and DEFNITELY NEWS CORP (Fox). . .

Just admit your error and move on man. . .

Jimmy Paterson 04-26-2006 08:47 PM

isn't a monoply like if a mcdonalds owned a napkin making factory and a slaughterhouse and a ketchup factory?

WidowMaker555 04-26-2006 08:48 PM

no its when a company has an unfair advantage over other companies in a way of making money

that's vertical integration if I remember my high school ECON class.

Machette 04-26-2006 10:13 PM

A monopoly is when one enterprise runs the entire economy in that sector..windows is probably the best example.

Bucknub 04-26-2006 10:29 PM

xfire is the gayest shit. no matter how many times I resintall that POS, I can never see my text as I type.

Maybe they can fix it for me?
