...such bullshit. hake:

Madmartagen 06-22-2006 03:33 PM

I think the House and Senate approved 8 - 10 wage increases for themselves over the decade too. eek:

c312 06-22-2006 03:42 PM

Congressional wage increases don't take affect until the term after they are voted on.

Jin-Roh 06-22-2006 04:28 PM

It's a conspiracy!

...So?

c312 06-22-2006 06:26 PM

I'm just saying, it's technically not changing the wages for themselves...

Madmartagen 06-22-2006 07:43 PM

min wage increases dont take effect usually until the next year or few years as well. I just think that its a bit messed up that congress decides that they need or deserve a pay increase but at the same time the sentate would knock this down when the min wage hasnt increased since 1998. this bill would have increased the min wage to $7.25 starting in 2009. I think its hypocritical to keep the min wage down but increase their own checks when members make over 150 grand a year.

"The lower strata of American society has had a free ride for too long."

Madmartagen 06-22-2006 08:50 PM

Coleman 06-23-2006 12:13 AM

So what gives them reason to do this?

Nothing, I was just saying that technically they don't change their own salaries, sheesh.

I agree with coleman though. It's dumb to have a federal min wage because costs of living are different in different places. They should determine this in the states.

Minimum wage = "I'd pay you less, but I'm not legally allowed to."

Nyck 06-23-2006 09:19 AM
