For the incoming freshman out there...

Have you met your room mate? Gone on orientation? What did you think about it? What classes are you taking? Are you pumped for the fall semester? Just wondering what all of your feelings are about starting college.... I met one of my room mates the other day and Im quite excited. He is a really cool kid and I feel I can get along with him greatly; all of our interests are the same. I didnt make it to my orientation because I was on vacation and missed class sign ups so Im stuck taking fucking "Gender Issues in Society." ed: Im going up to VT tomorrow to check out my room (hopefully). I really lucked out by getting into a suite with a private bathroom. Im pretty bummed about my class options though. Tues and Thurs I have Ancient/Med civilizations, then Early Latin American History (these two from 8-11). M, W, Fri I have My first year seminar Drama and Culture (sigh) at 12:30 - 1:20 and then this Gender class at 2. Bummed about waking up early on tues and thurs but it might be better..getting it out of the way early; also since my class is so late in the day friday I can go out on thirsty thursday. I think this is what my schedule is going to be...

http://lionschedules.com/cuahol there's my schedule for next semester....only 12 credits and all of that time taken up cry: GG music major and everything being 1 credit

Haven't met my roomate, I think I find out who he is in a couple weeks.

Orientation was 3 days, and was not fun at all imo. I also have a "first week" program where all the freshmen are in school a couple days before the rest of the school. I was around for class sign ups but I still got screwed and am not thrilled with my schedule, but oh well, who is?

VT = Virginia Tech, or you just talking about a college in Vermont? I'm going to Bentley College in MA.

You lucked out getting a suite with a private bathroom, I don't think that's an option for me till later on.

Seniors...or Super seniors for 5th year students happy:

And judas, I have to take 9 credits in the Science field. I didn't want to take a hard class like Chem or a Physics course so I opted with the environment thing. I had "Energy and the Environment" and "Safety Science" (damn hard field to major in contrary to the sound of it. You have to know a lot of chem and physics and start out with a $65k salary ed: ) and I totally enjoyed those classes. You learn some interesting things about alternative energy sources and things of that sort. My professor had been working with the government for 10 years or so with finding alternative energies for transportation.

i gotta go register for my 2nd semester thursday.

Jotun 07-25-2006 11:42 PM

Im going to James Madison University on August 23rd.

I went to orientation on June 26th, but I dont have my roommate till August 1st.

I'm taking Chemistry, US History, Fundamental Human Communications: Group Presentations, and Organisms. I'm a Bio major whichs means a lot of chem and stuff. 15 credits total. its a pretty cool schedule.

I'm kinda nervous...

ummm im like goin to cuesta community college.. taking like 3 classes, each one is about 3 hours a week.. which really is a full load at ccc because so much work is done in a week, but my dad expects me to take like 6 classes like highschool, which he considers a "full load".. and it looks like im paying for it myself because he wont pay for it unless im taking a "full load".. rolleyes:

Your lucky about getting into a suite. I would never want to be in a corridor style dorm, having to share the bathroom with the whole floor. My freshman year took a lot of adjusting for me. I had never been on my own before and i was really scared. Plus my roommate was a little bitch who never left the room so i had limited wanking time or alone time with my gf. Im going into my junior year and ive gotten to choose my roommate the past two years so it has been a lot better. Some advice is to go out and have fun as much as you can your first semester or even year, cause you probably wont get the chance the next couple of years. Meet as many people as you can and get involved in as many activities as you can, especially with your dorm. Get used to college classes and the workload, maybe even speak to advisor about what you want to study. Just have fun, and try to do well in all your classes.

Blitz, you have to fill out a form and they match you up with someone..Ive only met one of my room mates; hopefully the other one is just as chill as the one Ive met. 9mm.. I am attending Saint Michaels College in Vermont...no one I know is up there and Im nervous as hell dude. Virginia Tech on the other hand is a pretty cool school..I visited a friend once who goes there, lol. I think for this semester I have 14 credits total..some of these classes; meh - but what are you going to do? Hopefully they will make room in some of the history classes I wanted in, not this feminist (probably) gender issues class. happy:

nice, I had Owens for GCOM 123. He's pretty funny, but he can be a little weird. He makes it easy to go to class, but he can be a bit of a tough grader on speeches. It's a pretty easy class though, and he's a really nice guy.
