"This signifies a severe lack of awareness of the agony of millions of Jews caused by one man," said Jonathan Solomon, chairman of the Indian Jewish Federation, the community's umbrella organisation.

"We are going to stop this deification of Hitler," he said without elaborating.

The small restaurant, its interior done out in the Nazi colours of red, white and black, also has a lounge for smoking the exotic Indian water pipe or "hookah".

Posters line the road leading up to it, featuring a red swastika carved in the name of the eatery. One slogan reads: "From Small Bites to Mega Joys".

A huge portrait of a stern-looking Fuehrer greets visitors at the door. The cross in the restaurant's name refers to the swastika that symbolised the Nazi regime.

"This place is not about wars or crimes, but where people come to relax and enjoy a meal," said restaurant manager Fatima Kabani, adding that they were planning to turn the eatery's name into a brand with more branches in Mumbai.

The swastika has its roots in ancient Indian Hindu tradition and remains a sacred symbol for Hindus. Nazi theorists appropriated it to bolster their central hypothesis of the Aryan origins of the German people.

First off Israel didn't attack Lebanon, they attacked Hezabollah, who were firing rockets into Israel from civilian positions in Lebanon. That would be the same Hezabollah who hid among civilians afterward, so the retaliation from Israel would look bad. The same Hezabollah that claimed that suicide bombers were the only weapons they had to fight with. The same Hezabollah that rejoice in the death and destruction of not only Jews, but also their own men, women, and children.

Secondly maybe Jews don't and veterans and people from that era don't want to see a Nazi themed restaurant seeing as how millions of people died fighting the Nazi scum. But I'm guessing from what you said the sacrifices of your grandfather (Who I assume didn't fight in the war.) don't matter.

You're kidding right? How bout if they named their building after Osama Bin Laden, or Pol Pot, or Stalin? Or maybe some famous serial killer? You know, just to be different. It's about the principle of the whole thing, about naming a resturaunt after a man who was evil, a man who purposefully and deliberately tried to exterminate not only the Jews, but also homosexuals, people with disabilities, prisoners of war, etc. For God's sake, 6 million jews died, yes, but there were 5 million others as well. Ten of my family members(not including 2 that were soldiers who died in the actual war) perished as a result of that man's actions. Hitler deliberately targeted and killed 11 million innocents.
Israel killed 1000 lebanese civilians, as a result of being drawn into a confrontation with Hezbollah, who sparked the conflict by launching an incursion into Israel, in which 8 soldiers were killed and 2 captured. Hezbollah deliberately fired rockets(3000, which means 3000 attempts on the lives of the people of Israel) into Israeli cities from residential areas, knowing Israeli counterattacks would kill innocents and give them bad publicity. And all the civilians who actually had any sense were long gone from Southern Lebanon, considering Israel warned them to leave. So umm yea, think before you speak. L
