Is it:
Ignorant? CHECK
Dismissive of another lifestyle? CHECK
Applying said lifestyle to the wrong person? CHECK
Irrelevant? (Double points for Anti American/Bush statement) CHECK
Attempting to insinuate that he lives a life full of hedonistic pleasures? CHECK

Yes, it is indeed SUCH a Pyro statement. rock:

Pyro 10-19-2006 11:48 AM

Coleman is straight edge...doens't drink or smoke.
I understand the smoking part...but drinking is so much fun and to dismiss it without even trying it is ignorant.
it's like you're living based on what someone else told you what to do...can't know if ya like something until ya tried it.

Straighedge is a personal choice to stay away from things like that because I simply do not want to do them. I do not think I'm holding myself from any "pleasures." I go to parties and have a great time, without the hangover or blackout, and I have just as good as a time as a drinker has. I like having control and thinking straight. You have all the wrong views on straightedge. Do some research. Do you even know how straightedge started?

Oh, and I dont dismiss anything without even trying it. I've done everything I'm against (except for hardcore drugs).

Pyro 10-19-2006 12:12 PM

that last part was against coleman

and my first comment was meant to be ignorant...to combat colemans ignorance in not going to that thread because gtsboy is black.

Coleman drinks. There are pictures. In the Sausage Fest thread. Of Coleman with alcohol. I think.

And that not drinking at his age doesnt make him straight edge. He would just be obeying the law.

not drinking and straightedge are pretty different. straightedge is a counter culture.

Pyro 10-19-2006 01:40 PM

i don't consider straight edge a culture

it's more like a cult.

lol i NEVER bring up the topic. It would be indeed ignorant if I yelled at you calling you names FOR THE SOLE REASON of drinking...but I don't.

It's not like I've never tasted beer or alcohol. I don't think I ever posted pictures of me "drinking" on this forum.

Either way...I never had a problem with you not doing it lol...

I just don't like the people who do it to be apart of some cult...

like who would want to join an anticulture cult...like all you are doing is becoming what you're pissed off at

like goths...wanting to be an "individual" and all you are doing is joining a group of emo fags..

the south park episode hit the fucking nail on the head when wendy dumped stan.

and LMAO at the hooters thing.

I didnt say anything about my views on drinking. I dont drink, but my friends do. Its a personal choice. I'm all about having fun. Again I stress: Pesonal Choice.

anti 10-19-2006 03:50 PM

stop saying personal choice, that phrase is bullshit.
yeah you did give your views on drinking, you said the reasons that you're straight edge are because you don't want to"black out" or wake up with a hangover, or even lose control of yourself (so you're expressing what you feel happens when people drink). it would be like me saying when you drive cars real fast you crash and die.. well no that's not true but that's my view point on the act. my question is, have you ever experienced what 2 or 3 beers do to you? because they certainly don't cause any of those things. i feel you're blowing things way out of proportion, for reason unknown (maybe because you're biased and you feel the need to justify your actions?_ if you can't see the difference in getting drunk and being a casual drinker than i'm sorry, but that's fucking sad. you don't need to get drunk everytime you drink, but to dismiss it all (even the ability to have a single beer) is just pathetic in my eyes. and at the end if you just don't want to drink, you don't like it, etc. (like me in my pervious years, i didn't drink until i graduated highschool) then good for you but for christ sakes stop acting like you're so goddamn special.

bukdez 10-19-2006 03:58 PM

i grew with straight edge people and still know some today, never made much sense to me, but whatevs...

i just dont know why people cant abstain from alcohol and drugs without attaching the straight-edge title... i dont go around proclaiming to be a substance abuser... to each his own i guess...

i knew guys in bands, like chokehold and cursed and stuff, tons of those guys drink and shit now...

i also love how many straight-edges pound coffee...

Pyro 10-19-2006 04:01 PM

lol i always use coffee as my exuse to my mom...shes like you're not going drinking again (mind you i only drink like once a week...im no alcoholic) and i say...well shit you have two cups of coffee at work a day...plus one when you get home...thats a little excessive don't ya think.

did you read when i said I have done everything I'm against? I've drank before. I never enjoyed it, so I dont do it. Plenty of my friends drink, I go with them, I just dont drink. I know there's a difference between casual drinking and excessive drinking, I just stay away from it.

How the fuck is "personal choice" bullshit? I dont drink because I dont like the effects, the taste, and the outcome. If thats what you want to do, then fine.

I wouldnt say its a fad, its been around for over 20 years and some people are really passionate about it. I'm not passionate enough to get a fucking straightedge tattoo or anything, but I've seen plenty of them.

People need to learn that people are different.

CoMaToSe 10-19-2006 06:51 PM

wouldnt a straight edge tattoo go against the principles of being straight edge? I just dont see the point in having a label, why not just not drink or smoke without labeling yourself as a member of a group?

ok, i think you need to stop the hostility....i know there isnt much harm with a couple of beers....but i dont feel the need to drink at all. its just not for me, i never felt the need to drink after i drank a few times. and if someone offers me a drink at a party, i just say i dont drink. i never say "no thanks, im straightedge" 1. no one gives a shit what i am. 2. i dont feel like explaining to them if they dont know the term.
