360 Question

I want to buy a nice HD monitor, it has no speakers on it, which means i need speakers to hook up to my 360, is it even possible to hook speakers up to the 360? And if so link me to what i need. I cant get a straight answer

You need this sort of adapter.

It takes the 360's 2 plugs for sound (red/white) and switches them to the smaller size speaker one.

Its difficult to explain unless you have seen it.

of course you can. the problem arises in the fact that the audio coming out of an xbox is a low level signal carried by RCA's, one red and one white for each channel. you need to convert that low level signal to a high level signal (aka use an amplifier). What kind of speakers did you have in mind to use?

Milla 11-27-2006 12:44 PM

I dont know, im not willing to blow my bank account ya know. The monitor i want has Component slots, which is perfect because my 360 has the component jacks, and the composite jacks on one cable.

But im still confused about how to connect it to speakers, you're saying ,as i use the red blue and green jacks (component) to the monitor. Than I use the RCA jacks (white, red and black/ yellow) to connect to the speakers?

jujumantb 11-27-2006 01:02 PM

think of the red and white component cables coming out of your xbox as the mini-jack on most computer sound cards. In fact, you can buy adaptors to convert the mini-jack to RCA's...

They are the same thing, just in a different casing (RCA or mini-jack).
So if you think of it like that, now think of how you would hook speakers up to your PC. Same thing, you could, of course, even buy "PC" speakers and use them with your xbox with the right adapter. (if the PC speakers dont take an RCA input, but a mini-jack instead)

Milla 11-27-2006 01:12 PM

Great idea dude, thanks a lot, i even think we sell that RCA adapter at Best Buy.

Ill probably get Computer speakers, we get Bose Companion 2 speakers with my discount for 64 dollars, normally 99, i might get those.

Thats the same thing i use for my audio coming through the pc, though saying that my premium system came with a little audio connector that does the same thing.

Milla 11-28-2006 11:23 AM

I like these Bose Companion 2 speakers ,i get them for 59 dollars (normally 99) they have RCA jacks right in the back of them, so i dont need to buy an adapter.

Gerv your 360 came with that adapter to do a mini stereo plug?

Well the one pictured i already had, the 360 itself though had an audio adaptor in a small blue bag that more or less done the same job. No cable on it though so the audio wires wouldn't reach. Basically think that one pictured but with no cable, everything was mounted onto the black plug.

I have a question: Are there any games that allow Xbox 360 users and PC users to play together online?

I wish, that would be awesome. Microsoft needs to do that.

geRV 11-28-2006 09:05 PM

The wiimote is meant to be ok for sounds, its only used for the occasional sound like link drawing back the bow in zelda or whatever.

MILLA make sure the HD TV has a DVI or MDMI input on it, don't use that crappy Composite or Component out on the TV, get TRUE HD !!!!. Worth it for the difference.

It has DVi, but you cant get a cable for a 360 thats dvi and has audio on it.

Component is good enough.

Short Hand 11-28-2006 11:57 PM

If it doesnt have an HDMI input dont waste your money

Milla 12-02-2006 01:48 PM

Is there a way to play protected videos on your 360?

Like if i play them in WMP 11 it asks me to verify licenses and whatever, which i have. But is there a way to play them on the 360? When i click the video it gives me a source error.
