had it for almost a year now on my back, might get it removed though, people say its a girly tattoo but im just really into butterflies.

naw thats from a pelletgun when i was 15, shit basically penetrated half inch and got infected a few days later... had to have surgery to dig out some of the infected muscle, left a big ol indent.

I've been waiting and waiting on getting a tattoo...I've decided to design my own, and to wait 'til the end of my graphic design bachelor to do it, so that I can use what I will have learned by then in the designing. Gonna be sleeves on both arms probably.

I hope to fucking god jewjew is kidding about that tattoo. My god, if thats real then i've lost all respect for you, and i would recommend suicide.

that'd be pretty sweet dude. im getting my calf done sometime, im not sure what i want....i always told myself i would never get a band tattoo, but i dunno, im thinking about it. old Metallica and Iron Maiden will always hold a place in my heart, and they have sweet artwork....but i probably wont get anything like that. probably a ship or something done by an artist.

first off, i was completely joking, ive never had a tattoo (but that would be the one if i did mwah: ), and secondly, i highly doubt any girls would find it anything other than very strange/creepy in a 'he must be gay' kind of way... but that might get them naked around me sooner... so... hmm

im covered...my only advice is make sure you check out multiple studios...dont get a small tattoo...the bigger the better it will look. take your time as skin is a unique canvas. have the artist show you there machine...autoclave..what type of pigments do they use (some have plastic in them)..check out their portfolio. talk to people who have been tattooed there etc.

-most important is that you need to find an artist who understands that it is a privilege to tattoo. no egos...

And most important of all, start saving now to have your skin stretched in later life so the tattoo doesn't take on the resemblance of a shrivvled up knob. biggrin:

OUt of pure curiosity, how much did you pay for your tattoos? I am guessing they have a base price, then add money for the hours and complexity?

the place i go to charges for the size and colors used...they dont charge for the time, but the bigger the tattoo or the more colors used, the longer it will take, so they go hand in hand.

as for the whole "shriveled up when you get old" thing...it really shouldnt be a big deal. people always say to me "enjoy having a tattoo when you are 75 years old and its all gross looking" and my response to them is I wont care how I look at 75...what 75 year old does? thats a generalization, of course, but seriously, I wont be self conscious at 75, and hopefully you wont either.

huh? my post was written in a very calm/ funloving manner :) I dont know where you got the idea i was angry in any way beer:

a typical shop will charge by the hour or piece. a good, experienced artist will know about how long it will take and then make recommendations on location, size and coloring. Ive found the best way is to collaborate, and let the artist flesh out the piece. The more control and artistic input the artist has, Ive found they do a much better job then dragging in a piece and say i want it exactly like this...its as much about the experience as it is wearing the pice the rest of your life.

artists nowadays specialize in a certain type or style of tattoo..old school, flash, black/white/nature/bold colors and thick lines, tribal, new school, japanese etc. you want to match the style and type of tattoo with an artist that might bring out the most in the tattoo...i usually work of off concept, look around at the artists in the area of at a convention, check out their work, watch them work (do they have a heavy or light hand?), and then have them do some work...
