I personally play a lot of Realism Mods and perfer them over any other game simply because of what it says, Realism. However I have noticed people comming into Realism Mods saying how much they hate them and that they are for newbies.. I just thought I would see what the general opinions are..

That's about the funniest thing I've heard in awhile. Realism mods make it so if you get shot in the chest then you die, which is....realistic. If there is less room for you to make mistakes when moving, then how could you conclude it takes less skill to play with this kind of mod? I don't see the logic.

My feeling is that these people who claim these mods are for "newbies" are themselves the ones with less skill, because they would rather rush people like a bunch of headless chickens with shotguns and SMG's with no regard to whether they get hit or not. It's the Quake crowd, and for some reason many of these people think every FPS should play like it. EA tried to get the best of both worlds, and realism mods allow people looking for a little more in the way of realism to enjoy the game as much as the "headless chickens".

More power to you if that's how you want to play, but realism mods for "newbies"....that's laughable.

i only play on realism servers. less newbies there.

Realism mods own.
Less grenades=less spam
It doesn't take a full clip to kill someone.

yeah i love using garand. can actually kill up close and pop a sniper or two.

Most popular is CPR look for any host with "CPR" in name.

& yes realism mods "make this game"

I play servers with the CKR only.The CPR mod is ok but CKR is much better to me and also it will get even better.

Maybe if the headless foul learn to retreat instead of headlong jigs into the jaws of death,they'll live longer and not have to wait on the sidelines for the game to end.

The name of the game for the most part is defense for the axis,do you ever see any?

I feel the same way.. If its easier to die, then it takes more skill to live. Thats how I look at it and thats why I love the Realism servers.. Also the point about less grenades.. AMEN to that.. nothing worse than someone relaying on thier 6 frags to get kills.

Realism mods Rock! Especially CKR. Thats all we play at my house, we get like 2 hours of it in every night. B4 we had the mod it seemed the only way to survive FFA Maps like Destroyed village was to be a sniper, but now everyone uses either the M1 or Mauser, MG's are a fav too. I have just waited for years for a game that I could blast people with the M1 Garand, so when MOHAA came out I was overjoyed to see it in tha game. But I was dissapointed in its performance in MP untill we got CKR. Now It is my weapon of choice, well that and tha mauser.

Last time i played on the axis side, myself and all but two of our side stayed back to defend, and we got bitched at because the other two said they were doing all the work.
so when we did all run about advancing, the allies obviously got past us and to the objectives.

like many of you here, i personally prefer the realism mod because of the one shot one kill 'realism'. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif i dun believe one needs to empty a whole clip of smg or mg to kill someone. but the mod is not perfect either, i find it the mgs in it are way too accurate, they can be used as a sniper mg if you have the skill. and one more thing is the mod does not make rocket to kill the wielder instantly when fire at close range, which is not at all realistic.

I don't think either is any better than the other. It's all about personal preference.

It's just as lame to claim Realism mods are for better players as it is to claim they are for newbies.

Neither requires more skill at all, they just both require slightly differing skill sets.

I prefer non-realism. I don't think Realism mods are crap, or for newbies, or less skillful, but I don't like playing on them as much.

So, I don't.

It's an option we all have, so I don't see what all the fuss is about.

My personal belief is that most of the folks that like "realism" in the game prefer MoHAA over other games for that same reason. Unlike RtCW, with frigging zombies and movement rates like pre-teens on green apples, MoHAA is more immersive in the period.

Plus, the very first time I heard the Garand was gonna be in the game, I thought.....Oooooooohhhh yyyyeeeeaaaahhhh.

the thing is they ONLY made the smg more powerful, i tryed every gun but you get killed in 3 shots with a friggen smg and 2 clips with a smg, the game is realistic enough with out the patch, less grenades is better cause less spam, but in real war they acually had 5-7 grenades, just didn;t newbie toss them in every direction. im tired of getting nailed by a thompson in 3 shots and shooting a full clip with mp40 and not killing them.

I prefer regular game, I played on realism a time or two. And I think both times FF was off..hehe. Does'nt make sense http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Also realism mods kinda make the health pack, unusable.. I think if they tweaked the wep damage some or adjusted the location damage it would be better. And maybe lower the health pack to 25 or somethin.

i'll turn on ff as soon as somebody figures out how to or make something to autokick teamkillers in game. at this period it is just plain dumb to turn on ff UNLESS the serverhost is in the game himself.

Anything to take care of grenade spam is great. Nothing is worse than having some jackass spamming a respawn spot with grenades. You spawn and blow up. Lots of fun!

No offense but you might want to lay off the trigger. The MP40 is probably THE best weapon in game.. Ive seen many a Germans kick serious arse with the MP40 and I know that personally Ive been mowed down numerous a times by that damn weapon. Most of the Allies I play with constantly type out ingame where an MP40 is suppescted to be so we avoid a head on fight with that player.. I think the trick with the MP40 is "short bursts." Though personally I always use the M1 or the BAR. Im as accurate with the M1 as someone with the sniper rifle and getting damn good with the BAR.

Not saying that you are not doing something wrong Mope and Im not flaming, Im just relaying what I have experienced with the MP40.
